That is so bland and makes me uncomfortable just watching Hoke address the team. I won't care if the team plays inspired, but sadly a Senior or assistant will have to do it. I got to hear Bo once and it put a chill down my spine.

a sports writer once said hoke was fred flintstone, pretty much. the guy is what he is, just like bo was what he was. we had bo when we had him, and he was the greatest. we have hoke today, fire in the belly or not, so let's ride with him until we get somebody else. he's gotten this far in coaching for some reason or another. maybe, and very hopefully, this year is the year we see what he's all about...

I don't care that he can address the team or not as long as someone can. It wasn't about him firing them up or making them tear up. His message was actually painful and that is all. If my boss was that bad at speaking to our team I wouldn't feel very confident. Sorry for being honest and maybe my opinion is way off. Either way, opening day I will be at the game cheering my ass off for Hoke and the team.

the guy demands a lot from the coach of his favorite team. I understand. at the same time, I can't see myself ever demanding one man who's gone to the top of his career path (michigan is the top of the world for hoke) to be more like another man. hoke can be hoke and still coach to win. he simply needs to be the best hoke he knows how to be. all michigan coaches need not be reincarnations of bo. hell, look at that school below the belt. woody, tressel and urbs are completely different pokemon, and nobody down there wants one to be the other, though my personal prayer is that urbs becomes just like cooper or fickell starting this year...

Any guesses which walk-ons they will give scholarships to this year? If you are counting G Glasgow as scholarship player now, there are 2 additional scholarships left this year to get to 85.

I have to assume 1 will go to Joe Kerridge.

As for the other, I would think candidates would be Kenny Allen (probably going to be handling kickoffs), Joey Burzynski (backup OL but probably wont be in 2 deep), Micheal Jocz (may get a few snaps at TE until Butt comes back), Bo Dever (his name has been mentioned in fall pressers), or Ryan Glasgow (sounds like he will get snaps at DT). I think it will be Kenny Allen or Ryan Glasgow for the last one.

My guess is there's an ill side of him that we don't ever see in the media.  I think if you watch one of the videos showing him mic'd up in spring practice he's a little more intense.  And, guessing there's an entirely new level of intensity from Hoke the cameras will rarely capture.  Closest I could remember is after the Akron game when he basically laid out they'd be practicing in full pads on Sunday, the next day.

There isn't a single formula for leadership, and the game and competition isn't the same as it was 25 years ago.  So thinking that Hoke is a guaranteed fail because his emotions aren't worn on his shirt sleeve is erroneous in my thinking.
