Front page of GBW, he's flipped from WVU.
Davion Rogers has committed to Michigan.
Just saw that on scout does anyone have any info on what type of impact player he can be for us?
Looking forward to comments more informative than mine and a "Hello" post. Don't know much about him, but if our staff likes him I'm thrilled.
Yeah, suck it WVU.
we need more snake oil rr !!
People are down on the SNAKE OIL references...and that is a good thing. I remain down on the ALL CAPS. Just sayin'
This is the Davion Rogers who is an LB?
Yes, I belive he is an OLB.
"Rogers is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, and is considered the No. 26 outside linebacker in the nation."
Hmm if he's 6'6" and only 205-210, I would think a frame like his could probably add another 20 lbs without losing much speed. Still was he visiting this weekend? Neither rivals nor scout were clear on this as Scout had him visiting Michigan State this weekend.
He was in Ann Arbor this weekend, it was confirmed.
Scout says hes an MSU verbal....any confirm.?
Both Rivals and GBW say he's a Michigan commitment. He was supposed to visit Michigan this weekend, FWIW.
Deathbacker. Definite redshirt in 2010. He needs to put one some weight.
This is an even bigger sign that Wilkins and/or Paskorz will be a defensive end.
All I know is that he's 6'6 and a 3 star for rivals
but who would neg me for an honest question of Magnus about Rogers? I thought he'd know more than I do since he and other Brian follow recruiting closely.
people are idiots.
Define "good." He has all the physical talent in the world. He's fast and athletic and he'll probably be 240-245, at least, by the time he fills out. He really does look a lot like Crable.
But he takes bad angles, reaches too much when tackling, doesn't diagnose plays that well, etc. You can see him trying to be fundamentally sound at times, so I think he's teachable, but he's definitely going to need to redshirt. He's probably a few years away from being a solid contributor, but the depth (or lack of it) at the OLB position might force him to play earlier.
6'6" frame, agile and good speed. Once he packs on a little more weight and muscle, this guy can be a beast in a few years.
Scout says hes commited to MSU:
Scout is almost as unreliable as ESPN. Always go to Rivals first for your information or at least go there to confirm anything.
I wouldn't go that far... when it pertains to breaking news scout usually has it first and covers it better IMO. In the end you kinda have to use both Scout and Rivals... I wonder if they did that on purpose, those sneaky bastards. Scout is not almost as unreliable as ESPN, ESPN is in a league of its own.
You're right about ESPN. It's probably unfair to compare Scout to ESPN, but a huge reason that Scout does usually get breaking news first is that they don't always check their facts or confirm things. Rivals makes sure that what they post is accurate and comes from a very reliable source.
Scout often has "breaking news" but it's wrong more often than Rivals. Rivals is a little more measured about releasing "breaking news."

says he is committed to Michigan, article behind a paywall.
Michigan started the recruiting class fast on the offensive side of the ball, but has since placed a major focus on defensive recruiting. To that end, several prospects committed to other schools have also been contacted, and the Wolverines picked up a pledge on Sunday when Warren (Ohio) Harding defensive end/linebacker Davion Rogers selected the Maize and Blue.
"I just committed, because that's where I want to be," said Rogers. "It was the environment, the coaching, the people and the way the team is all together. I just want to come in here and work."
Rogers had committed to West Virginia nearly a year ago, but when the Wolverines came calling and he got chance to see school, he insisted that the decision to make the switch was not a difficult one.
Standing in at 6-6, 210 pounds while running the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, Rogers described his position at Michigan as being the quick end spot.
***FWIW Cox was his host***
That's what she said.
Thanks for the article.
"I'll play like a stand up d-end," he explained. "I can rush off the end or drop back in coverage. The hybrid position … I'm a hard worker and aggressive. I work hard because want to be the best."
he says Michigan wants him at the Quick DE/LB....can't we just have him play LB!!!!
You don't want a 6'6" inside linebacker.
Is that because a RB would easily be able to get under his pads and get leverage?
Can you please explain this? I'm always so confused by the roles of the different LBs.
Inside linebackers need to be able to change directions quickly, they need to be able to keep blockers off their legs, they need to take on lead blocks from fullbacks, and they need to fill running lanes. All of these things are more difficult to do for taller players than shorter ones. That's why there have been great inside linebackers who seem small (Sam Mills, for example) and why it's rare to see inside linebackers who are extremely tall (for example, Brian Urlacher is abnormally tall for a middle linebacker at 6'4").
That makes sense. Thanks!
OLB and makes him sound like Crable.
That brings back bad memories. I'll say he reminds me of Lamarr Woodley, even if it is totally not true. Ahhh, nice thoughts.
Collectively throws another sharp dart at their "Rich Rodriguez" dartboard.
FREEP headline: "Petty, vindictive, godless Rodriguez lashes out at WVU in wake of buyout payment, steals commitment from religious Bill Stewart"
Do you think WVU is getting pissed at us for stealing commits yet?
Stealin' ur doodz.
and go after Mike Dorsey
I don't think we'll go after Mike Dorsey unless Parker and/or Demar Dorsey and/or Rashad Knight turns us down.
Yeah that's what I figured. Was Rogers a contingency or did the coaches want to get a death backer in this class?
so if we have Death Roh for three more years and now Rogers locking down the deathbacker what's the plan for Stevie's position? who're the prospects there?
Mike Jones, Brandin Hawthorne, Josh Furman
