David Shaw interview on HARBAUGH
This was an entertaining read. Lots of good bits, but here's one excerpt:
On how Michigan will do under Harbaugh:
"They’re going to win, I have no doubts about it."
But will they win the ultimate prize down the road?
"That’s the question only Jim can answer. But he won’t answer it. Because Jim is not looking five, six, seven years down the road. Jim is looking at this year. Some people say that’s coachspeak, but that’s how he is. He sees this 2015 season as an opportunity to restore Michigan to where it should be, and I’m telling ya, he’s not thinking about anything else."

That last paragraph is awesome. Only Harbaugh.
Hilarious that Harbaugh is a main focal point at the Pac-12 media days as well...
Shaw went on to talk about how he thinks Michigan already has a very solid reserve of talent because of good recruiting the past three years. He believes Harbaugh’s success there will come quickly.

Note to self: Bring moar bullhorn.
I only wish he would have dialed up a different call on 4th-and-1 against STAEE in the Rose Bowl and won the damn thing.
I like Shaw. He may be conservative in his coaching, but he's a good coach regardless. I remember that his name was floated about when Hoke was let go and I definitely would have been happy with him. Harbaugh is way better though. That last line definitely made me grin. The time to win is now!
Great post, thanks. Of all the Harbaugh hype this is the most relevant because the guy coached with him for 6 or 7 years.
Dougherty and Anderson were also rumored to come to Michigan.

"Dougherty and Anderson were also rumored to come to Michigan."
Yes, but then Nucky Thompson took Jimmy Dougherty out of the equation...
And he quits his bitching.
You feel bad for a millionaire who's doing extremely well for himself, has job security, and could probably get 90% of the jobs in the country if he ever wanted one.
Shaw's never at the top of my list...but we could do far worse when it comes to coaches if the time ever came to hire a new one (after 15 straight national championships, of course)
This isn't like RichRod being asked about Carr or Hoke about RichRod. Harbaugh is Shaw's mentor. They forged a strong relationship. It's to be expected that people would ask Shaw about him, just as they ask Harbaugh about Bo.
mock those who expect to win now saying it'll take time. Bullshit! Jim Harbaugh and I have this in common..we both expect Michigan to win every week.
Harbaugh is going to rub some folks the wrong way in 3 years, no question about it...but I have 0.00% doubt that we'll be elite in 3 years. None. ZERO.
I said ELITE, not good, not even great. We will be an ELITE team when it's all said and done.
This guy is so competitive and is going to find every way possible to win - now he's at a place where he cares more than anything in the world outside of his family, because it IS his family.
Sometimes I get caught up in the hype, then I read articles like this and realize we have one of the very best football coaches in the WORLD.
