David Shaw interview on HARBAUGH

Submitted by Dawkins on

This was an entertaining read. Lots of good bits, but here's one excerpt:

On how Michigan will do under Harbaugh:

"They’re going to win, I have no doubts about it."

But will they win the ultimate prize down the road?

"That’s the question only Jim can answer. But he won’t answer it. Because Jim is not looking five, six, seven years down the road. Jim is looking at this year. Some people say that’s coachspeak, but that’s how he is. He sees this 2015 season as an opportunity to restore Michigan to where it should be, and I’m telling ya, he’s not thinking about anything else."

Shaw went on to talk about how he thinks Michigan already has a very solid reserve of talent because of good recruiting the past three years. He believes Harbaugh’s success there will come quickly.

I like Shaw. He may be conservative in his coaching, but he's a good coach regardless. I remember that his name was floated about when Hoke was let go and I definitely would have been happy with him. Harbaugh is way better though. That last line definitely made me grin. The time to win is now!

I kind if feel for Shaw. He has to be a lititle tired of talking Harbaugh. He's been denied a lot of credit at Stanford as he is seen as just carrying the JH torch. Even if that's not unfair, it's probably frustrating for him.

Harbaugh is going to rub some folks the wrong way in 3 years, no question about it...but I have 0.00% doubt that we'll be elite in 3 years. None. ZERO.

I said ELITE, not good, not even great. We will be an ELITE team when it's all said and done.

This guy is so competitive and is going to find every way possible to win - now he's at a place where he cares more than anything in the world outside of his family, because it IS his family.

Sometimes I get caught up in the hype, then I read articles like this and realize we have one of the very best football coaches in the WORLD.
