David Molk will retire
David Molk has decided to retire, seemingly from too many injuries. Thankfully he has a Michigan degree to use. Good luck, David.

Not too surprising as I would think the book he allegedly wrote would have made it pretty difficult for him to stay in the league.
But being from Cleveland I know who the REAL "Johnny Anonymous" is. He has many clever disguises and is almost impossible to spot when he's partying on the DL
Has anyone read this? If so, thoughts?
Can you blame him? NCAA football is the far superior sport.
Sweet, so he's coming back for a 6th year then.
Man, I loved him on the field for us and in the interviews.
Wish we could have him this year. Molk at Center, let Cole take over Right Guard and keep Newsome at Left Tackle.
Hopefully he isn't in constant pain the rest of his life, has a bit of money to fall back on, and has a great second career. Loved him at UM. A leader with heart and class...
That pension seems very low. Ive heard it was much more than that....Does it scale up quickly once a player hits 4 years?
The average NFL annual pension (as of 2014) is $43,000. Plus, the NFL contributes $80,000 per season to a 401k is a player plays more than 4 seasons.

I wish him well in his life after football.

I hate everything about football, but I love to hit people really fucking hard
From what I have heard, read etc, Dave was not exactly well liked by many on the team. He freely admits he's an asshole from what was said about him in JUB's book. I don't think he is the type that Harbaugh would want.
If you believe Molk is the guy who wrote NFL Confidential, then no. He made it very clear that when he's done with the NFL, he will never watch a game or even touch a football.
He wants nothing to do with the game.
Well, I didn't know any of this. I guess you could say it came...out of left field.
*shows self out*
Talk about football like that, and admit you don't really like the game, and neither Harbaugh brother will ever speak to you. That goes completely against everything they stand for and have ever talked about. Though I do think Harbaugh would welcome him back as an alumni in good standing, I don't think he'd ever let him address the team.
His NPR interview makes it more clear:
He says he loves playing the game but thinks the NFL is manipulative and exploitative.
So he loves the sport (football), but hates the business of the sport (NFL).

Thoughts and Prayers.
.....but the best two seasons Michigan has had since '06 have come while getting outstanding Center play from seniors Molk and Glasgow.
His nasty edge made him one of my favorites. I wish him well.

My foot has a nasty edge to it
I have to assume that he wrote the book now
Yeah, wrote the book on being a great undersized center at the collegiate level and not too shabby as an NFLer either amirite?
Thoughts and secret super mind energy to him.
Into my Maize & Blue heart forever after I watched him grit through a frickin' torn tendon during the Sugar Bowl. I think those of us watching will forever be grateful, because the first few snaps from Mooseman seemd to be aimed for the first few rows in the stands instead of Denard's hands.
His performance is legendary to me not only for the grit and determination to win, but also because it ultimately kept him from competing in all but one Combine drill, IIRC. He'll do just fine in the real world.
He truly personified what it meant to be down in the trenches. Hopefully he puts that degree to good use.
start to realize college football and college in general is a rare, fun, exciting opportunity. Take advantage of those years...NFL aint going anywhere and its obvious its mostly full of butthole owners, not so great people and just slimy business.
He should open up a Dibella's on campus. He'd keep that place afloat himself.

One thing about Molk....when he was a Sophomore and OSU was kicking Michigan's ass down in the Shoe...late in the 3rd quarter, he got pissed and beat the shit out of an Ohio player. I respected him for not taking crap from the Buckeyes when the rest of the Michigan team was so bad and was laying down.
He's flush with that book money now

I can't blame a guy for finding the NFL an unpleasant employer to work for.
