There is no underestimating this guy's importance to our team. If you take a look at the games he's played versus those he's missed, you will notice that every game he's played in for the past year and a half, we've won. And when played for the first series against PSU last year, we played great and scored. He is as critical to our team as Denard is IMO. It's no coinciedence that Tate tanked after he was hurt, as did the fortunes of our team.
David Molk - Most important player on team?
Until the beam of light that is Denard gets by the los.
Especially since he likes to hit people. He just likes to f*cking hit people. Gotta love that type of attitude.
have we? No doubt he's an important part of the offense. But I can say with complete confidence that no one can do what Denard does.
I suspect Tate tanked last year for a number of different reasons.
Not exactly true; his backup played a single play during the UConn game. When Molk was momentarily hurt, someone else took his place. I don't know who it was and I can't really remember the result of the play, but I'm pretty sure it was a run for little or no gain.
Khoury I believe got the snap. Molk is important, but based on these two games, I can't see how Denard isn't a bigger game changer.
Molk's injury coincided with a couple of things. Tate suffered an injured shoulder. The schedule got much tougher. Not trying to minimize Molk's ability, but look at the collective wins of the opponents Michigan beat last year.
EDIT: late with the khoury comment. didn't see it below.
Molk came out, and (iirc) Khoury went in. Molk proceeded to RUN back onto the field after 1 snap, but pause like 3 strides in to ask the coach if he could go in, then resumed sprinting.
pertainning to D Rob's play. Howeva, one only has to refer to last year debacle dealing with the loss of Molk to understand...he's the GLUE on our punishing frontline.
Molk is such an important player on this team. I look back to last year when he was out for evidence of his greatness. The moose came in and we had a consistent problem with snaps and trouble getting to second level blocks, which hurt the running game and foced Tate to try and do things himself, which often led to sacks, turnovers, or throw aways. Insert a health Molk this season and the blocking has been awesome, there has not beed a single bad snap, and his leadership is something that speaks for itself. If Molk isn't a finalist for the Remmington trophy then the voters are absurd.
Based on the team's relative strengths, I'd argue someone like Cam Gordon might be the most important player on the team. If he gets hurt, Kovacs moves to deep safety and Michigan is in deep, deep trouble.
If Molk or even Robinson get injured, Michigan is going to have problems, but the wheels aren't going to come off completely like they would if there were a serious injury in the secondary.
Well, I think I have to go with Denard, but Molk's definitely up there. It's annoying to keep hearing references to last year's collapse when people never seem to remember that Molk and Minor (almost certainly our two best offensive players) were injured for all or much of that time. Yes, injuries happen, but it's a very tough break when two guys of that stature get hurt (and Forcier's shoulder injury, which he gutted out, didn't do us any favors either).
But without a good O-Line sealing off blocks for him, I don't think he's as explosive as he is this year. Molk is the captain of the O-Line and a leader for the team along w/ Denard.
of critical players. Don't want to lose Molk, Shilling, Martin, Robinson, anybody. We don't have a lot of depth.
I mean Ive said it before but it can be uttered again. MOLK FOR HEISMAN
He agrees with you.
And even this year I think he's in the top two on offense. I do believe that the offense would still be very good without him or Denard, and be okay without both of them - that's a function of how the team has improved in the last year. But with them both it is GREAT.
Molk is very important to our team. In fact, he could be as high as the second most important player on our team. But Denard is the most important player on any team in the country, I believe that.
Is the one who gets the most important player the ball (every play). Enough said.
