Actually, I have to respectfully disagree.  I am recently divorced and had to do some furniture shopping for my new home.  I decided on the Restonic Tempa Gel series.  It's a memory foam like Tempurpedic, but the foam is gel infused to help keep you cool and not create hot spots like the Tempurpedic can.  Also, they are the same prices and less than Tempurpedic. I greatly recommend it.

This is the most fun shopping experience. Where else do you get to achieve your shopping goals by (t least pretending) taking a nap on as many pillowy soft surfaces as possible?

I'm thrilled that Dawson has reconfirmed his commitment to Michigan. If he wanted to go to Florida, I'm cool with that. He's a kid with an offer for a free trip. I'd want to go. But I'm sure that the coaches told him "you can go, but if you do, we will let some of our other line recruits know a spot is available". He didn't like the idea that someobody else might take his sopot while he was checking it out down there, and reaffirmed that he wanted to play for Michigan.

I think for both us and him, that solidifies everything completely.

It's been said, many times, many ways: TRUST THE COACHES... and ignore twitter accounts run by anybody under the age of 18 unless re-transmitted by someone highly paid (ok, maybe not highly) to translate, interprete, and consult animal entrails to discern the one true meaning.

Happy to hear it because he will be a great piece of this class, but I feel bad for the kid. Basically had a shitstorm come down on him from Michigan fans when he genuinely seems to only want to compete.

Isn't there a story in Three and Out about Gardner being disappointed he didn't get any sweet (read: illegal) recruiting swag because he committed to Michigan before taking any SEC trips?

Thanks man. I'm actually in NYC right now, temporarily. Setting up the ol' homestead before moving up here in a few weeks.

And I think you're right. I seem to remember the story being something like a bunch of the southern guys were swapping stories about SEC visits, and Gardner chimed in with some joke about regretting not taking more visits before committing.

Sorry David, I sincerely hope this experience has not jaded you. But being a Wolverine now, and in future years, it seems, means you have to know early.

I also feel bad for Dawson. Having to deal with idiots bombarding his twitter account and some so called michigan fans being morons.

I figured if he wanted to camp at florida then so be it.

I think this is sad. And it is really sad that we do have some fans that want to act like Ohio fans on twitter. This kid is as committed to Michigan as anyone and wanted to go to a CAMP in Florida before his senior year. I have no problem with this and I think this whole thing only hurts Michigan in the future.

Just because he canceled the trip does not mean it is because of the coaches. It sounded like he was planning to cancel before he talked with them. None of us have any idea what took place in that conversation. It is just as likely that he canceled to stop folks from sending him idiotic messages.

I get the sentiment, but it's common knowledge that our coaches don't consider you a commit once you visit another school.  So I'm reasonably sure how that conversation went.  Likely a "let me make sure you know what you are getting yourself into" type talk.

I wouldn't have blaimed him either way, I think it's best for him to do what he feels is best for him.  That being said, I'm glad for my own selfish reasons that he feels staying committed to Michigan is what is best for him.  He is a good player, and while no one recruit is going to kill the program, he really appears to be a recruit that will help the program, and it's great to see him staying on board.

Also, I feel this shoves the bullshit right back in the face of the so-called "Michigan fans" that were calling him out  on twitter or blogs or whatever.  Those people really need to get over themselves, and while all fanbases have those fans, it's embarrassing that they were so outspoken for Michigan (though it wasn't necessarily unexpected from my point of view).  People want to hate on Magnus, but it's not fans like Magnus that piss off recruits, it's the ones that tweet the recruits whenever they freek out about something stupid. So I'm glad those asshole fans get to eat shit (assuming this means completely Dawson stays aboard, which appears to be the case, but either way those fans can eat it).

Though I have defended him at times in the past (other times I just back away slowly).

I just think he gets a lot of shit around here, and he only deserves it some of the time.  People freak about what he wrote about LTT and Dawson as if that's may determine where these kids go to school.  I tend to agree with his LTT review (lots of potential, still a raw prospect) and disagree with his Dawson one, and that's fine, people can have different opinions. But people writing their honest opinion based on a limited amount of data on a blog won't determine what a recruit chooses to do.  Now if he tweeted one of them and told them that he thinks they aren't worthy of scholarship, then yeah, I have a problem with that. I think people need to realize where the line is and take people's opinions as what they are, opinions.

I personally find it nice to have different opinions on recruits and see how they measure up to my own, and I appreciate that Magnus actually gives a thoughtful opinion rather than just blowing a bunch of hot air. In the end I think the coaches know more than any of us here because they have more at their disposal, but even many high quality coaches have differing opinions on these kids, and just because someone has a different opinion than Michigan's coaches doesn't mean they should be chastised.

I go to Touch the Banner every morning at 7:00 AM to begin my workday.  I honestly don't understand the hate that Magnus gets.

Why is providing an honest appraisal ever a bad thing?  I really look forward to seeing what Magnus says because 1) he seems to be objective instead of simply considering that every single recruit has the potential to be the next Woodson 2) he is a coach, which means he knows more about football, especially the fundamentals, than probably all of us, and 3) he is comfortable expressing his true views instead of just saying what people want to hear.

Is the worry that recruits will read his blog and dislike Michigan and go elsewhere?  I have to believe that coaches, teammates, family, etc. will take up well over 99.99% of a recruit's decsion, not a blogger on the internet.  I think this is just irrational.

Obviously, people who actively tweet recruits are not ok, but comparing what Magnus does to what those people do is simply comparing apples to oranges.

Thanks.  And I agree that people shouldn't be afraid that comments like mine will scare recruits away.  I've been making the same kinds of critical comments for a few years now, and we currently have the #1 recruiting class in the country.
