Snowden, I also found out the hard way that twitpic changes the underlying picture's url relatively often. I assume it is to prevent people from embedding it in other webpages. I don't know exactly why they do that.
Create a flickr or account (or with some other picture sharing website -- tumblr might work) and edit your post with the new picture urls.
