Word is Harbaugh wants to coach the bowl game with the team that he built from oblivion to national power and doesn't want to do so in limbo status on his way out the door. Michigan's delay might be due to that.
Not buying the "1 of 27 sports and we evaluate after the season (including post season)" line after Brandon was so effusive about Beilein's long term future last week in the Detroit News.
Again, there is absolutely no advantage to waiting on the endorsement for 2011 for Rodriguez until after the bowl game. Because "that is how we do it with women's swimming and diving", is beyond weak.
I have this thing about self-punishment and so I read every word of the Harbaugh related threads on here. So far no one who believes Rodriguez is coming back has given even a decent explanation for why we are waiting until after the bowl game to announce it. There are a bunch of people on here who are really smart too.
Maybe Brandon is still on the fence? So how we play against Baylor on a neutral field in front of a half empty stadium will determine the future of Michigan football? I have my doubts.
The most likely explanation is the delay has everything to do with the interrelationship between the logistics of hiring Jim Harbaugh and Michigan's present need to be discreet in case the deal falls through. Heck Brandon might not have even talked to him yet, but intends to.
This much is clear: the longer this lingers is negative for Rich, not positive.
