Dave Brandon sends snarky email back to alum
Ed-Ace: Did some digging on this and while I haven't been able to get my hands on the original email, I can confirm that if real it is from December of 2013 or earlier, not last weekend. Doesn't change the content of the email, of course, but it does change the context.
Just some background here, my friend comes from a family of Michigan alums. Her aunt who is an alum had enough of this garbage so she decided to speak up.
She sent a very respectful email to Dave Brandon that was well-written on their families' opinion of the job he is doing and she said that they no longer were season ticket holders.
This is by no means a fake. This is his actual email which I have confirmed on here before, as has another poster when he posted a story about DB snapping back at him.
She thought I should pass this along and I found this very interesting given the interview coming out today.
I guess we found out those more important things that Dave had to do...
When asked why he didn't address questions sooner: "Frankly, I've been busy doing things that I think are frankly more important." — Brandon

EDIT: Apologies! I originally posted the photo from a direct message on twitter but I've uploaded it onto another site.

How about your friend forward's the original "mass email type deal" she received to you. Then you could forward that to someone else for at least *some* semblance of verification - Instead of giving us a screenshot that is completely unverifiable?
October 2nd, 2014 at 11:09 PM ^
And a fuzzy screenshot at that.
October 2nd, 2014 at 9:40 PM ^
you are acting like a child...almost as bad as Dave Brandon...trying to manipulate us and all in order for us to agree with your perspective
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:26 PM ^
how did you expect for him to respond...the fan base is calling for his job and I am sure the initial email was just politely asking him to resign
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:32 PM ^
Even if the initial email was asking for him resign, it is really hard for him to step back and type something that doesn't read as, fuck you, to an alum?
Of course, that is assuming this is real.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:32 PM ^
If I as a worker am expected to remain courteous than this flithy rich CEO ought to be as well.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:27 PM ^
I... don't believe this is real.
I'm no Brandon fan, but this doesn't feel real to me.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:27 PM ^
Google that email address -- [email protected] -- and you get a lot of websites showing that it was his email, including a tweet from Ace in 2012. I will say, I'm not finding current websites showing it's still his today. Like, it was his when he was on the Board of Regents. (Which I didn't know he used to be, and which, makes me think the BOR isn't likely to see him as the Pimp Hand that he is.) I would guess it's still his, I mean, why would he stop using it? But if that response is really from that email address, I can't imagine he actually wrote it. What fool would do that?
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:31 PM ^
That is his email address.
The reason I'm 100% certain this is legit? The poorly placed ellipses. Tell tale sign of a DB email.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:34 PM ^
The first one he got when he became a regent, the second one is the AD's email.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:29 PM ^
What a petty, unprofessional asshole.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:33 PM ^
Your link says 2005. This is current http://www.mgoblue.com/school-bio/sports-administration.html
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:36 PM ^
It says enough about Brandon that people believed it.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:38 PM ^
I've corresponded with the "dabran" address in the recent past. It's still active. He still uses it.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:48 PM ^
Someone can have multiple, active email addresses. If I were him, I'd sure as hell have a more under the radar address separate from my public-facing one.
October 3rd, 2014 at 11:21 AM ^
It's his uniqname.
They NEVER expire and you aren't allowed to change.
The new email address is just a redirect (there are numerous university folks that have them) - but the dabran uniqname is still valid and still his.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:37 PM ^
That page also says he is the CEO of Domino's still.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:29 PM ^
forward the whole email to President Schlissel.

Too much Dave Brandon, not enough Michigan. He views the AD as his fiefdom.
Can you post the entire thread?
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:34 PM ^
the actual guy who was a CEO of a reasonably large company with a national presence is foolish enough (drunk enough? I don't know) to go on record (every person in any kind of organization with access to email knows what happens when you put down stuff in writing that never ever goes away because of all the cautionary tales) The proper analogy is not coming to the front of my mind about how far-fetched of a possibility this is. Whats posted is a fraud. Not saying WD cooked it up by any stretch of the imagination.
This is a cheap shot with an account hack, photoshop, snipping tool, etc.
I understand the anger directed at the guy and how he earned it. I don't support cheap shots or smear tactics. Its lowlife and unprofessional.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:34 PM ^
This has been a standard go-to response by Brandon toward frustrated emailers over the last year or so. It isn't fake, it isn't a fraud, and yes, he is stupid enough to "go on record" with responses like this. "Lowlife and unprofessional" is the lunatic in charge of Michigan's athletic department.

That there are a larger number of these across varying dates would lend some credibility and shoot holes in my argument.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:33 PM ^
I think we should take this down until it's confirmed. Just one man's opinion.
October 3rd, 2014 at 2:09 AM ^
It's being contested right here in the thread - BS has been called - relax and let it play out. Perhaps new or corroborating evidence is produced, or it's debunked.

I find it sweet that you believe people think about the consequences of written records such as emails, texts, and naked selfies.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:34 PM ^
We know he's prickly and all... But unless he's pretty much drunk emailing at this point out of sheer frustration (and that's possible, I guess...), I don't see any way in which this is legitimate.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:36 PM ^
But if it is, though? Wouln't you cream yourself?
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:43 PM ^
Christmas morning.
But Christmas ain't what it used to be. Because it seems obvious to me this guy is probably going to keep his job if he's making the interview circuit to do damage control.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:35 PM ^
Wouldn't mind seeing what the original email said.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:37 PM ^
Wow. I can't believe that is legit, but if so, what an ass.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:41 PM ^
Don't worry guys, he's not tone deaf...

I think she should send a short reply:
"Thank you Mr. Brandon for your response. I am writing the Regents to suggest that you find another school to work for. Michigan will be quite fine, if not much better, without you. Have a happy life."
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:42 PM ^
this makes me. I want to see her email. But Jesus H this is pathetic. He is representing the University of Michigan for christsake. No employee of the university should respond like this to anybody. Pathetic. When will this end?
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:44 PM ^
I suggest you find a new school to AD. Michigan will be fine without you. Have a happy life...
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:44 PM ^
Michigan will be fine without Brandon maybe.
October 2nd, 2014 at 9:11 PM ^
Maybe?????
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:45 PM ^
People are missing a point. Even if dabran is his email, people can spoof email return addresses or simply EASILY photoshop a screenshot of an email.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:48 PM ^
Ding ding ding.
October 3rd, 2014 at 2:25 AM ^
This is a camera/phone snapshot of a screen, not a screenshot (image capture). The image isn't "squared" when you open it in an editor (rotated slightly counter-clockwise). Explains the fuzziness. If photoshopped, it's very well done.

October 2nd, 2014 at 8:46 PM ^
No original email, not to mention it would be very easy to photoshop this "response". I'm surprised this hasn't been zapped.
October 2nd, 2014 at 8:46 PM ^
The original email could have said something along the lines of, "I will never support Michigan Football until WolverineDevotee is the head coach."
