Dave Brandon To Announce Something "Historic" On Friday
Maybe it's just me being hopeful, but dang it if D Green doesn't look awesome in all of these spring videos.
He definitely looked fast in this one. Ive got my hand on the bandwagon, thinkin about hoppin aboard.
Mone looks like a freight train, only quicker. Like a Mack truck, only bigger. Like a bulldozer, only stronger.(Coach Jackson analogy)
Your "analogy" was clear as day . . . only clearer.
For the first tiime in the history of him being AD he will announce that he will no longer try to be a behind the scenes puppet master. Who wants to watch some film now?
Wrestlemania 45 or whatever number they are on
At all venues. Kill Brandon. What? He met with a suspended punter weekly and helped him? Ummm... Maybe not. Carry on
Basketball in the big house.
I really hope we attempt to break the world record for a basketball game some day. World record for American football, Ice Hockey, and Basketball? Hell yes.
Big House Tip Off Classic - Can I copyright this now? Or do I need a Trademark?
We're going to lose the football one to Tennessee NASCAR Special Game
F Them. Then let's play Purdue at the Indianapolis Speedway.
If I were Stephen Ross I'd pounce on as many tickets as I could. Guinness doesn't care about ticket sales and won't certify the record if the butts aren't in the seats. It would take a few million to undercut the attendance enough but it's peanuts compared to some of the donations he's made.
You don't need a dome if your yellow arch is large enough.
Finally the Big House will host monster trucks. It truely is a WOW experience.
I read that as "monster cocks"
Maybe I've been spending too much time on the internet
He better not be changing the name to Domino's Stadium with a $200 per game student ticket price and 10% discount for those who arrive 3 hours before kickoff.
I really hate when it's typed that way. The H in historic =/= the H in hour. And when I try to pronounce it how it's typed, I run out of breath.
That's the big news. The hold-up before the finalization of the game was due to the state legislature needing to approve the sale of liquor in the Big House but now that the measure has been passed, the game will happen for sure.
Absolutely impressive that Brandon has managed to bring two of the biggest teams in the world to the Big House. But, you know, screw him because of, like, money, or something.
Thanks for the reply. My question is this, what do you think ticket prices will run? I'm a huge soccer fan, so I would love to see them play in the Big House.
Other stadiums hosting games for the International Champions Cup have tickets starting at around $40 for the highest seats and going up to around $130 for field level. Obviously it could be different here given the sheer size difference from the other stadiums, but that's probably a good comparison.
Thank you! I appreciate that information.
to answer that, although it looks like SCS100 already has. I think it'll be interesting to see what the ticket prices end up being because if ticket prices remain high and sell well, you'll almost certainly see more of these types of games in the states in the future.
I'd imagine that demand should be fairly high. The novelty aspect and the large fanbases of the two teams will play a large role and it'll be interesting to see how many people travel to the game. Chicago will obviously provide a good portion of the ticket sales, the proximity to Canada should see a good influx of Canadians to Ann Arbor and I'd think that people from both coasts would fly in for the game as well.
...none of the stadiums sold out. Sun Life was 7,000 people short and that was the closest anyone came. That being said, assuming United don't finish sixth in the EPL table and have to play in the Europa League, it is quite likely this thing packs in most if not all available spots.
Is that a joke? You know these types of teams play many summer crap-roster friendly games all over the country every year, right? Very few people are flying at all, let alone across the country, to see Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo play for 30 minutes at 70% effort.
I don't know, a guy at my firm is a huge soccer fan. He's dying to go to this, if it happens, and he thinks people will fly in for it too.
I'm just a casual soccer fan and even I'm excited for this. I've just been waiting for tickets to go on sale. Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney playing for 30 minutes at 70% is still better than anything the US has to offer. They are two of the best futbol players in the world.
I am considering it, except for the fact that most of the internationals involved in the WC will probably be playing VERY sparing minutes.
I believe the reasons that some have been unhappy with some of the choices Brandon has made have been delineated in great detail--much more than "or something". But I suspect you've chosen not to listen.
The Daily's sources agree.
I don't think they could fit a regulation sized field within Michigan stadium but I could be wrong
That said, this type of match does not need a FIFA regulation sized field
Or so I've read
It's preseason in a World Cup year. I wouldn't call it an outrage if Ronaldo and Rooney are out. Bale should be available because Wales isn't Cuppin'.
I loathe both of these clubs, so I have a completely different opinion of this than all of you.
Would we have to share revenue with the rest of the B1G?
This whole "OMG DAVE BRANDON IS DA WORST EVAR" schtick is getting so old on this blog.
It might be sincere in some cases, however, this soccer game is a huge plus. Criticism of Dave Brandon obviously is warranted in some cases but uncalled for and annoying everytime the name is mentioned.
I get so tired of the implication that every time someone has a differing opinion people from the other side of the debate accuses everyone ofr"group think" or being sheep or things of that nature. The fact that we have these debates makes it painfully obvious that people on this site have differing opinions and the whole sheep things is ridiculous.
I wish we could just face the fact that on a site with as large a following as this, people are going to disagree. It doesn't make anyone a bad person or a mindless moran, it's just the way it is.
So you like Dave Brandon, that's great. Personally I don't care for the guy and while I can admit EVERY SINGLE MOVE he's made hasn't been stupid, I find the bad outweigh the good where DB is concerned. We disagree, that's life. It doesn't make either of us stupid or sheep, we just have differing opinions and the fact that I agree with someone else on this site doesn't prove the groupthink crap we keep hearing about.
Seriously, let's just enjoy the fact that this blog caters to a diverse group of people who come from different backgrounds and have different ideas and opinions and encourage the debate that occurs because of that, not try and stiffle it by accusing anyone who disagrees with you of being a sheep.
/end rant, I apologize.
No it doesnt. It implies that the person assessing the feeling has issues with it, primarily that its more about its mass appeal than foundation in actual events.
You heard it here first.
but even he couldn't do a worse job than David Moyes has done. As a ManU fan I would consider DB an upgrade....
Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao for Floyd's final fight in '15 on Cinco De Mayo weekend.
That he will no longer get excited about positive news or tidbits about the football team until he sees them play in 150ish days. Yet he will read every board post and then tell you that again just so you know he's not interested.
What is this "free" you speak of?
It would be cool if basketball had a home game against a rival at Yost and they wore like old 1950s throwbacks for it. Like a heritage classic game.
The tightness of the seats for a bball game inside Yost would make the atmosphere electric
"Please not soccer"? You don't have to go, you know. And it's not like something is being bumped for this.
Oh my gosh, a Lions game at the Big House would be awesome!!
Dave Brandon's jersey number a legends jersey and Michigan's best player every year will wear the number and have Dave Brandon listed as the name on the jersey.
My own personal hope is that Brandon will announce that we are going to see the stadium filled with water and, for a nominal fee, we can see recreations of historic sea battles inside the Big House. Imagine what a novelty it would be to have Slippery Rock return AND a reenactment of, say, the Battle Of Trafalgar inside of the same month potentially.
Kickin' it old school. And that would certainly be historic, but not enough of a WOW! moment for Brandon. I'm thinking it's bigger, but also more plebian, to attract more revenue: a NASCAR track (a throwback to the chariot races in the Colosseum); a WWE Raw extravaganza (bringing to mind the gladiator fights); or monster trucks (which have no equal in all of history).
Live Human Sacrifice.
I've seen Reality TV. The public is ready for this.
I used to work at a managment company. The partners told me about this meeting with a horrible person of a producer, there was some off handed joke they made about what if there was a show that followed depressed people that were going to off themselves. Horrible producer got really excited and started spitballing what the actual show would be. They had to tell him they were joking and did not want to create a show where people took their own lives.
Assuming you mean the Colosseum in Rome then I'm pretty sure there were no chariot races there. The venue would have been much too small. I think the circus maximus would have been used for chariot races, but don't quote me on that.
With the facts.
If they did the sea battle on Slippery Rock game morning, the field would certainly be slippery.
But I'm thinking gladiators. Great way for the Athletic Department to purge the guys who might, say, advocate a union.
1st statue of a person on campus?
it's a bronze statue of a young Dave Brandon looking up and admiring a bronze current Dave Brandon.
Will break ground at the old Edwards Bros printing site (down State Street)
He's returning all of our PSD's.
I just saw that Wrestlemaina is this week. Maybe the big house will host for a record like the Silverdome did.
in the playbook of Ohio! I had to.
It's European soccer. We had this discussion on here awhile ago. Someone got it off some soccer site.
at our stadium, on Michigan away dates. Who knew?
The halftime show of The Horror II is going to be a Pop Evil concert.
I just know it.
Lol lol lol. Oh god help us
MONSTER TRUCK RALLY THIS SUNDAY AT THE BIG HOUSE! GET YOUR TICKETS NOW
WE'LL SELL YOU THE WHOLE SEAT, BUT YOU'LL ONLY NEED... THE EEEEEEDDDDDDGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE!
We're going to field a title contending football team this fall?
He will be establishing National Dave Brandon Day. And there will be much rejoicing
ND wins at UM Stadium?
That train left, Bucko.
Too bad they won't have the chance.
Are we finally getting the Wolverbear Mascot?
He has decided to replace the student section with billboards?
At least then there will be something to look at in that section.
A historic partnership with Dominoes Pizza? "Introducing "The Big House" - two extra-large pizzas,10 of your favorite toppings, an order of pasta or wings, plus choco-donos for desert! All for the infinitely reasonable price of $14.99!"
It will also be made available on football Saturdays for a mere $72.50.
Don't forget your PPL. Personal Pizza License at $200 per.
Better off just announcing it and let everyone else decide how historic it is. Does he really need an announcement that he's going to make an announcement?
What could be more DB?
And by "DB", I mean . . . um, yeah.
The world's largest Noodle?
Dave will have a sky writer do O-H-N-O over the shoe during The Game.
Lowering of ticket prices?
So we won't be disappointed.
PLEASE KEEP SOCCER OUT OF THE BIG HOUSE!
Tell us how you really feel.
Since you asked, only one type of FOOTBALL, not FUTBOL, belongs in the Big House. I'm so sick and tired of having this bullshit rammed down my throat. It is not an American sport. How am I supposed to consume sports media this summer without being bombarded by this crap?
Hockey isn't an American sport either but I'm sure you're not pissed that we hold the record.
It's at least North American and played by tough men. Furthermore, it exemplifies American values of not being Euro Pussies. If i wanted to watch people run around for 90 minutes and fall down without being touched, I'd watch a group of 5 year olds.
meet on the 50 yard line for an epic jello wrestling match for control of the Michigan Football program.
Brandon: It will now be called Larry Page field at Michigan Stadium
Hockey is up for debate in 2015.
Michigan will be the first school to allow in zombie student athletes. I will recruit them
has been invented and it's Michigan exclusive. Wheatley, Harmon, Howard, Woodson and others will be plucked from their primes and added to the current roster.
Our man Dave has arranged for alien spacecraft to hover over the stadium at halftime and create crop circles in the field turf.
Aliens. Grays from OSU.
are going to come and cropdust Michigan Stadium.
Personally I hope it's getting rid of the stupid legends jersey and giving the legends monuments instead. Just like The Yankees and Alabama do.
What would that be? I would consider it pretty historic if:
- They reduced the price of tickets.
- Set aside more seats for the student body.
- Brandon took a recuction in his salary to fund another "non-revenue" sport or two, or if he donated a substantial part of it to a worthy charity.
- Turned down an ethically questionable sponsorship deal.
- Stopped jacking around with the uniformz.
- Generally speaking demonstrated that there was something more important than maximizing the amount of revenue the athletic department generates.
(The jokes, they write themselves.)
But funny jokes require talent.......
~ Decided to do his job and make Michigan athletics one of the most profitable athletic departments in the country...oh wait.
Playin in Da House!
Naming rights to Michigan Stadium sold to the highest bidder
The University of Notre Dame field at Michigan Stadium. Hella troll job.
I think its to announce a historic rise in the budget for Sky Writing. Or to announce that MH370 actually landed in the Big House.
