Darius Morris in WSJ
Saw this brief writeup about Darius Morris in tomorrow's Wall Street Journal. Although we already knew this, he is extremely valuable to Michigan Basketball right now.

Hopefully his % numbers go down next year as the team improves. All the same it is great to have a lead over Jimmer in a valuable stat.

Well, since the percentage is total field goals and assisted field goals divided by total team field goals...I hope it doesn't.

I hope his % numbers go down but his absolute numbers go up. That would mean the rest of the team would be balling out of control and he would also be more efficient.

That's cool, and it's good to see that he's getting some recognition. They could've found a better picture, though. Preferably one showing one of his sick passes (e.g. Iowa game).

I thought the exact same thing. Does this mean we'll be subjected to countless "what if Darius gets hurt" threads?

I just wish they would quit calling him butterfly on the BTN.

But, you see, he's emerged from his cocoon as a beautiful butterfly. Get it? It's appropriate only for Darius Morris because no other player in the history of the NCAA has ever improved between his freshman and sophomore years.
So it's a totally appropriate nickname that that guy on BTN totally did not make up himself and was arrived at in a completely organic, natural fashion.

out of the ball, that guy sure accomplishes a lot.

Brundidge, Burke, and Big Dog (Glenn Robinson) III things could get interesting in the next few years.
JB could be getting his groove on.

Time is definitely our friend with the basketball program. Morris by this time next year will be discussed as an NBA prospect.

I love the WSJ, so worth the subscription unlike other publications... I prefer to pay my $1 a day for WSJ than get paid $1 to read the Freep

Where else can you get that much entertainment and valuable information for $1?

Last year, before his freshman season started, I got to know Darius a little bit after having watched his recruitment the prior year. I told everybody that he'd be a special player — smart as a whip and incredibly talented — and that he and Peyton Siva would be immediate impact players in their respective conferences at the PG position. Then they both had mistake-riddled freshman seasons and I felt like maybe I was wrong. So it's nice to see both of them really coming into being elite PGs in their conferences this season. Siva was Big East POW last week and we've all seen Darius's "butterfly" season. Lesson learned: I'm always right, even when I'm wrong at first.
