Darian Cooper Eliminates Michigan
According to Scout.com, Darian Cooper, the defensive tackle from DeMatha HS in Maryland, has elminated Michigan out of his final 4. With Martin becoming a senior next year this makes Danny O'Brien one of Michigan's top, if not the top priority in the 2012 class.

I'll take that as a compliment, because he's awesome.

you are one of the posters I respect most on this blog, but when a recuit (and he isn;t the first to say it) sites the uncertainty surrounding the program as the reason he committed somewhere else I don't think complaining about the uncertainty is unjustified.
I understand that these are 17 year old kids who have the potential to change their minds, but lets be honest, kids decommitting from one school to commit to another is the exception and not the rule. It does happen, but it isn't like it does more often than not.
Lots of kids aren't as dedicated to playing for UM as D. Hart and are willing to let this all play out before they make up their mind. With all the factors that go into a recruit making his decision, this situation could easily be the deal breaker for many recruits out there.
I just don't think it is entirely unjustified for someone to complain about how this whole situation is being handled, and point out the fact that it is definitely impacting this staffs ability to recruit.

The accepted phrasing around here is, "twist in the wind"..........not "hang in the wind".
Come on man. Get with the program!!

At this rate we may be forced to break out a 1-4-6 defense for 2012.

it leaves room for one more slot receiver, that we can take in this recruiting class.....

Neither are California kids.
It's not like these guys are 5 stars, but just sayin....

Hell no don't want him... not now....not tomorrow....not ever.
December 15th, 2010 at 9:12 AM ^
So if he's hired we will not hear from you anymore? Win/Win.
December 14th, 2010 at 10:49 PM ^
He works under different parameters as far as what players he can get qualified. The better students are usually found on offense. Not always, but generally. Plus we are dealing with a track record of player development on defense that is impressive.
Go read up on Harbaugh and what he has done out there. The possible future looks pretty good if that is the direction we go.
The man will give us our program back. Of that I have no doubt.
December 15th, 2010 at 1:15 AM ^
And you're probably out carrying signs to take our country back, too...`
December 15th, 2010 at 8:30 AM ^
Already have our coach. Give us our program back? Did not know our program left, RR is our future not Harbaugh. Offense is going to be an absolute monster in 2011.

we'll be playing the unique 0-3-8 formation.

Jonathan Hankins would be pretty cool about now
December 15th, 2010 at 12:19 AM ^
New 0-0-11 scheme:just make them run more than one play to score. At least Penn State is in a worse situation in recruiting.
December 15th, 2010 at 12:27 AM ^
Should have taken 6'4 330 pound Hankins last year. He loved Michigan but was slow played. He saw a lot of good PT this year at tuoos.
December 15th, 2010 at 9:05 AM ^
..To have Sparty himself, in a blatantly biased manner, swinging you away from Michigan.
To help with that process he relies on the advice and guidance of Detroit Southeastern defensive coordinator Archie Collins
“(Collins) just wants to look up some information on the past defensive tackles that (Michigan) has got to the league because that’s my dream – to play in the NFL,” said Hankins detailing the advice he received from his coach. “(Collins wants) to see the statistics they’ve got and just get more information about them because it was a long time for them to offer me. He wants to see what that’s really about. He just wants to look into it (more) before the decision.”

December 15th, 2010 at 9:02 AM ^
This is why. Stop freaking out, two people don't make a defense.
December 15th, 2010 at 9:39 AM ^
This time in English.
"I don't buy this. He schedules his official, then he says Michigan is out two days later? I just hope the green shits in East Lansing don't get him; that would piss me off. I have a question. How the hell did they get Gholston and Lawrence Thomas over us? Since when does MSU get in-state 5 stars over Michigan? That's unacceptable."
Apostrophes are not toys for you to just randomly place wherever the fuck you want. They serve a purpose. If you're going to post stupidity, you could at least make an attempt at, I don't know, second-grade grammar.

we're getting into never-ending cycle territory. we were thin on d this year, we'll be thin on defense next year and the year after when RVB and Martin are gone... sigh.
December 15th, 2010 at 5:08 AM ^
I mean really? Why is this thread so depressing? Did anyone think Cooper was ever a strong possibility?
And how do you figure the D will be thin forever? You must think theres no talent there right now, I guess, but I don't think anyone can reach that conclusion in regards to first and second year players. Its TBD.
December 15th, 2010 at 6:26 AM ^
Yes, people did think that Cooper was a possibility at some point. He mentioned over the summer that he made a connection with Delonte Hollowell when he visited unoffically, and he said he was looking forward to coming back for an official visit.
December 15th, 2010 at 8:13 PM ^
Summer was a long time ago, and the talk was mostly fluff. Didn't see any strong beliefs recently.
So yeah, I don't understand when a thread about a single player verbally committing elsewhere goes all doomsday, and I especially don't understand it when the player verbaling elsewhere was expected.
December 15th, 2010 at 9:44 AM ^
just hit the "fast forward" button and get to the bowl game? Then we can find out what's happening with the direction of the team and move on. It really does seem like recruits are not happy with all the waiting, and neither are we. If RR was staying, you would think DB would come out and say that he's our coach for next year. His silence might be loud. Or not.
In our bowl game we will -
1. Score a ton of points
2. look like a highschool team on Special Teams
3. Have the worst defense in the nation
4. Feature two QB's
5. Turn the ball over at least 4 times
6. Make me want to puke over and over
7. Still somehow win the game
