Dantonio/Izzo/Comley get contract extensions

Submitted by pontoon on
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=4465591 Dantonio, Izzo, Comley, and MSU's AD all got extensions through 2016 (2013 for Comley). Dantonio also get a $2 million bonus if he sticks around for the entire contract. Kind of sounds like the whole Dantonio leaving in two years thing seem even less likely. Also, the obligatory Fire Up Chips!

He's had his biggest promotions through OSU. Tressel hired him as a grad assistant and promoting him to a secondary coach. Tressel also re-hired him from MSU as a defensive coordinator in 2000. That stint at coordinator got him the head coach job at Cincy.

Why in the world would you give Comley a longer contract? Last year msu hockey was god awful with their only good player a senior and has now moved on. Either msu will rebound this year (then you can give him a longer contract next off season) or msu will continue to crater which will just make the next coaches job that much harder.

None of this really matters. If MSU wants to fire one of these guys down the road, or if one wants to leave, the contract will be bought out. This just makes it a little more expensive on MSU's part.
