Dantonio on MSU's OL injury issues " We've got guys on scholarship, and we're not sitting here going into fall camp with 9 guys on scholarship like some people are"

since we have 10, not 9.

1. Lewan, 2. Barnum, 3. Molk, 4. Omameh, 5. Huyge, 6. Schofield, 7. Khoury, 8. Mealer, 9. Miller, 10. Bryant.

Plus, only 2 are graduating. We have, as of now, 5 coming in next year. That gives us 13 for next year, but probably more since Hoke seems to be wanting to take at least another OL recruit still.

Also, next year's starting OL is going to be all juniors/seniors (Lewan, Barnum, Khoury, Omameh, Schofield)..so yeah. I'm pretty okay with the way our OL looks right now.

who is supposed to be at fault for having enough guys on scholarship? is he saying that he has more injuries than normal? or is he saying that 9 is too many or not enough? i am not sure this is even about UM.

Dantonio wants UM/msu to be a huge rivalry so fucking bad.  Being a dick is the only way he knows how to keep people talking about it.  Face it douchebag, noboby gives a shit about msu.

He is so fucking pathetic, all he does is COMPLETELY reinforce the "little brother" bullshit.  He absolutely sounds like a whiny little brother would right now.

His juvenile inferiority complex about Michigan is just sad.  You had a good team last year, you won.  You also had 2 lucky as shit wins against 2 teams that were statistically the worst teams in Michigan history, and 1 loss where you blew the game in complete MSU fashion.

You lost every single recruiting batte this year that included players that could actually get accepted into Michigan, the writing is on the wall.

Far be it for me to go against the collective perception of the board that "Dantonio=obsessed douche" but uh...Pot meet Kettle?

We're the ones who just posted an article about an innocuous statement that he made. He just trolled the fuck out of you all.

Who cares about this guy?    He's just another faceless coach of another program that I couldn't care less about.

I can see why people obsess about Ohio or Notre Dame.   Those are programs that have similar history, offer significant competition to us on a number of different levels and have a national relevance similar to ours.  I don't get the obsession with MSU.

MSU is a decent program and yes, I get that they're in our state, but they and their douchebag of a coach are at a decidedly second tier to us.    I know that and I suspect most of their fans know that too (which is why things like the Little Brother and the Sparty comments raise such ire).

They had a good year last year and have beaten us a couple of times in a row, but they've hit their ceiling.    I mean does anyone honestly believe that they're going to win 10+ games anytime over the next couple of years?   Win the B1G anytime soon?   Go to a BCS game?    Get a Top 10 recruiting class?

No, I don't either and so, I'll worry more about Ohio or Wisconsin or Nebraska-- you know, B1G teams that actually matter.

having a worse than normal Michigan team in the past few years, coupled with a decent MSU team the last few years has equaled MSU beating Michigan three years in a row and giving their fans a false image of where their program stands in the grand scheme of college football on the whole.

I have absolutely no idea what he is complaining about.  Okay, you didn't recruit enough guys and are running out of OL players.  How is that anyone else's fault?  Dantonio coached for at Cincinatti for 2 years, and has been at MSU for 5 years now, so I can safely presume that he is at least 7.  Which means that he should be able to count the number of offensive linemen he has on his team at any given time, count the number of years of eligiblity each has, and figure out that you need to have at least as many coming in as are going out if you want to keep your depth chart up.

I always thought he was a hack, and ranting about how some other team maintains its own depth chart while implicitly blaming them for your own failings (which is a mental exercise that hurts my brain just thinking about it) is just idiotic.

It is probably good that his team plays in the Legends division, since his whininess is truly legendary.

Simply not true. It's not a case of not recruiting enough bodies, but it's just a string of very bad luck with injuries and attrition. Breakdown by class:

Seniors:

- Arthur Ray Jr (Army All American) gets leg cancer, and his career gets sidelined

- Chase Dumphord....transfers

- Jared McGaha...MCL Sprain...out several weeks.

Juniors:

- Anthony Woods...transfers

- Zach Heuter...career ending back injury

-Sophs:

- David Barrent...career ending back injury...leaves school.

- Blake Treadwell...MCL Sprain, out several weeks

- Nate Klatt...broke foot in spring

- Henry Conway...C-1 fracture last spring....still sidelined

Frosh:

- Skyler Burkland (Schoefner)....broken ankle....out most of season

- Travis Jackson....high ankle sprain.....hasn't played yet.

These make the secondary problems Michigan had last year seem miniscule.

But hey, who am I to let facts get in the way of whatever it was you were trying to say about recruiting. Carry on.

Going into this year, the one team I wanted us to beat above all others was tsio. I'm still sticking with that, but man oh man Dantonio is making me think really hard about my decision.

Bulleting board material? Maybe not, but still a petty gibe. This guy is such a jackass and this nails it -"Honestly, has there ever been a better coach-school fit than Dantonio-MSU?"

Wolfman

Let's face it, the guy walks around with an ubiquitous scowl that that suggests not much happiness and good feelings inside. Even when he manages a smile, like on the fake fg last season vs. ND, it appears doing so requires a great amount of energy and seldom used facial muscles, resulting in what appears, thankfully to all looking on, an extremely short, awkward facial tic rather than a physical suggestion of happiness.  He is the typical guy in the bar, no matter how non-judgemental you think you might be, that would cause you to make an exception.

I don't know if this is a result of having read more of what he had to say about UM prior to actually looking at him on the sidelines, but the bottom line is the same. He simply comes across as one who would more than likely be judged, on first sight, as reflecting a personality polar opposite of magnetic.  When he speaks, all preconceived judgements are borne out.

I will give him credit for his modest success at MSU, but I cannot do so without adding the caveat that he did so during the only time in recent memory that UM was in full rebuild mode. He won't sustain this, and his inability to provide a record similar to last season's in 2011 will reflect the fact that his is a program not unlike most other coaches have managed in E.L. That being, of course, a few decent campaigns, maybe an exceedingly good one now and then, by their standards, but nothing that will even suggest that MSU is a national player.

In making such a statement, a logical person would conclude that a team with "such incredible depth" along the offensive front, would have totaled roughly 200 yards more than what they managed last Saturday. The loss of their starting RT for the season only hurts a very thin and young line. He may be factually correct in stating they have (pick a number Mark) of OL on scholarship, but he failed to add that among his magical number exists quite a few emergency converts from the DL. So in effect, he has a thin starting OL, made thinner with the injury, and a bunch of young men who are still, in the nicest description possible, very much in the developmental stage.

A wise man, no matter where he coaches, is best served to keep verbal attacks against opponents at a minimum. A person coaching in EL would be best served to avoid this type of behavior period. My only wish for him is that he stay there long enough to experience the comeuppance that is due anyone that so proudly displays his ignorance.

"When my  team was down to Notre Dame late in the first half, my answer was not to pull some JV football trick play out of the bag."  Then Hoke paused and bluntly said, "Nevermind, that's how you get a tri-championship when you didn't deserve one in the first place."

Fuck Dantonio and anybody who doesn't see that bullt shit.

But why everyone so mad. Pride comes before the fall I hear from some of you but some of you love the fact that Mike Hart called them little brother. Since he said that we are 0-3.

The irony in the thread is amazing.

Dantonio makes what may or may not be a reference to Michigan.  Then we get well over a hundred comments about how Dantonio turns everything into a Michigan thing, as if we're not doing the same thing.

Michigan should beat Michigan State and not brag about it, that would be the nail in Dantonio's coffin. He's not worth any attention from Michigan. He can sit up in his room all day obsessing over UofM, while Michigan is focused on winning every game.

You hardly ever get into a Big Brother v Little Brother debate ....but being back in M for the UTL game and it's a whole different story. Nationally, nobody gives a rat's ass about Sparty and would rank them after UM, Ohio*, PSU and probably Wisky too, in terms of prestige. Dantonio is a butt-munch but he knows how to play to the fanbase ....learned that lesson well in Scolumbus.

Just when I was running out of reasons to dismiss Dantonio as ignorant. The apple doesn't fall far from the (buckeye) tree. I can't wait until THE_KNOWLEDGE's vision for MSU comes to fruition and they somehow become more insignificant.

The BTN interview in which he said beating Michigan "made him feel complete". Can you imagine Bo, Carr, Hooke or even john Cooper saying somthin like that about a rivak? The guy is obsessed with Michigan and therefore ithe perfect fit for Lil' Bro.
