Dantonio, MSU reinstate WR Fred Smith after serving jail time
Another day, another Sparty reinstated. Smith is a redshirt sophomore who served 4 days in jail.

[mod note: Starting nose tackle Oren Wilson, who lied about his involvement and played in the bowl game against Texas Tech, will not be returning]
I wonder if the infractions people were monitoring the amount of time he spent working out in prison?
but seriously...
Not only did Dantonio reinstate him to the football team MSU Academics awarded him 3 credit hours for an internship.
why take a fencing PhysEd credit when you know how to shank a guy with a toothbrush
Shank is a noun, not a verb.
they filed it under "life-skills development."
Surprised? No.
Hey Archie, MSU is working out really well for Fred Smith, isn't it?
A scandal of biblical proportions...
Explain yourself, biblical Santa Claus.
i think it works... in some way
No way that is just community service so it doesn't count against his hours.
Smith lied to Dantonio about his involvement in the fight. however NT Oren "It wasn't me coach, it was the other guy with a huge body and tiny head" Wilson will not be returning
Did you ever think it could have been this guy...?
At least Dantonio is consistent. We wouldn't want him breaking any recent trends.
I wonder if Michigan can get special permission from the Big Ten to wear the guards' uniforms from the Longest Yard when they play this fall?
The guards lose that game, correct?
i don't remember the final score being all that great in that game in your analogy
Even if they can't, the student section should be in prison stripes and jangling handcuffs instead of keys...
This was my reaction...
amazing picture
it's going to be entitled "Catholics vs. Convicts Part Deux".
I am shocked, shocked to find that Dantonio reinstated a player right out of jail.
Your winnings, sir.
(Oh, thank you very much.) Everybody out at once!
Dantonio's new nickname should be Gates, cause he greets each of his players as they come out of the prison gates.
This just in ...
Spartan 2010 Football Uniforms
EDIT: Damn it all to hell. I wanted to post the photo instead of just the link, but Flickr (their name shall be cursed for all eternity) won't allow embedding.
Fred Smith is MSU's Ricardo Miller. While in jail he obtained soft verbals from several inmates and further increased Dantonio's strangle hold on the state of Michigan.
There was a big long thread a couple weeks ago where people were bashing Dantonio for who he reinstated at that time, and a number of people used the defense (maybe even rightfully so) that because those kids weren't "really involved" and the courts found them not guilty that of course they should be allowed back.
Those people should read this thread and then STFU.
MSU HAS ANOTHER CONVICTED FELON WHO HAS SERVED JAIL TIME ON THEIR TEAM THIS YEAR. This seems utterly crazy to me, and it's the second year in a row. RR gets ripped because we recruited a kid who was accused, and not convicted of a crime, as a juvenile. Dantonio has now had kids who were tried, convicted and sentenced as adults, and still allowed to play. This is seriously outrageous.
So he must be a bad guy.
Wait, Michigan State reinstated a player right out of jail. When has that ever happened??
the potluck casserole dies in the end.
how many of Rich's kids have been even arrested since he came on? just Feagin right? and Lloyd's numbers? Larry Harrison never went to jail, iirc. it's like 1-2 every 5-10 years right? and Dantonio has pulled this shit off 2 years in a row!
Carr would have maybe a couple of guys get arrested a year. But I don't remember any of them ever going to prison - and certainly, if any did, they weren't reinstated.
There was the k-mart rip-off under Carr, right?
Yep, just found it on-line. $6,000 stolen from the Ypsi k-mart. two players, one former player.
There were a number of incidents under Carr. Pretty much every offseason at least one player would get arrested. (I think our arrest rate has dropped under RR.) I don't remember any Michigan player ever doing time and then rejoining the team, though. It's incredible that it's happened twice in a span of 12 months at MSU.
And the freep just has a blurb about Smith returning after spending time in jail...which is a FACT while they have a longer article explaining the WVU investigation on Rodriguez and it's one of the top headlines...which is an INVESTIGATION WITH NO KNOWN FACTS.
Wait, you guys already know the f**** sucks ass. Disregard post.
I only wish Dantonio had said this.
