Dantonio does not want to talk about Harbaugh.

Submitted by UMFanstuckinOhio on
Just read this article. I hope Harbaugh stomps the crap out of this asshat. Edit: For all of you saying I would not want to comment either while preparing my team for a bowl game game Urban Meyer, Nick Saban and RR all commented on the Harbaugh hire today. With class none the less.He is absolutely an ASSHAT. http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2014/12/mark_dantonio_acknowled…

Got rich when we were down...time to reclaim what is rightfully ours. Call it arrogant, it's extremely arrogant. It's what happened and I'm ready to watch Harbaugh and co. snatch it back.

He did what he's supposed to do, and MSU will be better for it, but get ready to be happy about Outback Bowl wins MSU. That is where you belong.

8-4, 9-3...that's your destiny Sparty. Which is respectable.

Fuck Dantonio, can't wait to watch him finish his career the opposite way of how he started it.

One thing I've started to expect is that there is no way he'll allow Michigan to tie the series against him, he'll leave first. They don't think it's possible and I definitely would never say it's a certainty, but here's a possibility I see: a better-than-expected Michigan team playing with energy at home beats them this year. In '16 it's back in EL, but Harbaugh will now have his system fully in place and they'll be breaking in the new QB (and I have it on good authority from Sparties that that's a total disaster for a team). Back at the Big House in '17, and then...ooh, scary. Your move, Mark!

So on a big stage in TEXAS Dantonio is given the chance to comment on the B1G getting much stronger as a conference and he shuts it down because he is a baby.  What a doucher.

Dantonio doesn't want to talk about Harbaugh? No problem.

Speaking for myself, his silence doesn't bother me in the least - since I couldn't give the proverbial rat's ass what Mark of Magnesia thinks, anyway.

I still refuse to even acknowledge Sparty as a main rivalry(may have to change that this year losing ND off the schedule). Nothing ticks off the shartin' spartans like telling them they don't matter.

He made it a bigger story than it should have been. "He's a great coach. He won at Stanford and the NFL, so there's not much more to say. Michigan made a very good hire, and I look forward to meeting him... Outside of that, I haven't really thought about it as our focus is on our bowl game tomorrow." Instead he went pouty a la the tent stake incident...

I, for one, will not want Harbaugh addressing the MSU head coach hire of Dan Enos in 2019 as Michigan prepares for a national semifinal game.  So I understand completely.

Although I agree that this isn't typical Dantonio attitude, he probably could have handled it a little better - like someone said, answer the one question and politely attempt to circle back to the stated topic of the presser (i.e., the Cotton Bowl) upon the followup. He's just not very good at this, in my opinion.

That being said, this makes Big Ten media days a potentially epic affair - Harbaugh, Dantonio, Meyer and Franklin and all the death stares would make for some entertaining moments. It makes me wish Pelini were still around - the awkward silences between these five alone would make me smile for some reason.

are dubbing Harbaugh as the B1G's Saban.  If he wants to be that, and I don't thing he does, - I imagine that he wants to be nothing other than the B1G's Harbaugh -  there is one thing that he can do to cement that reputatation:

No UM coach has beaten MSU in his first season since Bennie in 1949.

No MSU coach has ever beaten UM in his first season, with one exception - Saban.

Ehh I really don't think he said anything all that bad. He didn't trash Harbaugh. He just wanted to keep focus on MSU, as he should.

That being said, I hope we curb stomp MSU next year. You can bet Harbaugh will get this team fired up to play them. He may have brushed the question off today of how he's felt about watching us get beat badly by MSU and OSU of late, but he's definitely been paying attention. He'll get those guys ready to go out and punch MSU right in the throat.

kind of like the abominable snowman doesn't want to talk global warming.   scary business for that little guy.  thought he was really going to take over the state, but instead he just found out that the varsity just took residence down the road for him.

While it's true that Dantonio is an asshat, his comment doesn't make him one, it's what we should be expecting him to say. His actions and words are a result of being an asshat at the core of his being. Rather than vilify, we should pity him. He's trapped within himself. Can you imagine the holy hell of waking up each morning realizing that you're Mark Dantonio? I'd be permanently pissed off, too.

I thought he was fair, he responded to the question and yeah he's a dick, but he shouldn't have to answer questions all day long about jim, do you think harbaugh would do that? No....

...b/c I could give a fuck what he thinks.  Honestly, if he bristled at the question, then he's way too easy.  It was obviously asked in order to push his buttons, and I'm guessing he was all too willing to oblige.  When is this guy going to learn to take the high road?

The past couple days as I've been out in public (wearing my Bo-style M hat), when I've seen Sparties wearing their gear, I just politely smile, but on the inside, I'm thinking, "It's on, motherfuckers."

Get Jim Harbaugh

Fuck Agent Smith Mark Dantonio. That guy and his idiotic follower fans just realized that their short reign and walking all over our team are over. They might beat us in 2015, but it won't be a blowout and M is gonna be back very soon. Yeah, we said that when Hoke was here in year one, but Harbaugh is on a whole different level than Hoke. The freebies are over for MSU and they know it, but are simply too proud to admit it. Even though they won't say it (and this goes for OSU fans, too), the last thing they wanted is for Jim to coach their most hated team, that being ours, of course.

Dantonio is a douchebag, but I find it funny as hell he can't escape Michigan no matter what. Even with some success against Michigan recently the spotlight is still on Michigan. I love it, I hope he has that look on his face like someone dropped ass after Harbaugh beats him. Can't wait

The actual comment wasn't that big of a deal. He might have been a little classier about it, but that's not in his nature.

And it's absolutely appropriate for him to want attention focused on his team which is playing a very good Baylor squad. I'm ambivalent about whether MSU wins or loses, but if forced to choose, would probably pick Sparty because a B1G win in a bowl against a team that just missed the playoffs and is the Big 12 co-champion would be a huge statement.

1. I know people on the MSU coaching staff personally. Four years ago, he was the one and only person that the MSU coaching staff did not want Michigan to hire. "nuff said.

2. I find it extremely disappointing, and frankly extremely unlikey, that Dantonio was not mortally offended by Harbaugh's incredible insult, condescension and disprespect toward MSU throughout this entire process, press conference, and Crisler appearance this afternoon.  I'm 110% certain that it is already bulletin board material at the Duffy Daugherty Building.
