Danny Kanell Ignorantly Bashing Peppers & Michigan Fans

Submitted by Ricky Spanish on

On Twitter for roughly the past 24 hours Danny Kanell has been recklessly tweeting about Peppers, the diluted urine sample, his Orange Bowl injury, and the intelligence of Michigan fans. I never thought this guy was a clown, until now.

On Jabrill Peppers intelligence: https://twitter.com/dannykanell/status/856568025562132480

Another tweet on Jabrills urine sample: https://twitter.com/dannykanell/status/856572345288445952

Ripping on Jabrill for being injured and Michigan fans for understanding that their player is injured: https://twitter.com/dannykanell/status/856863696638930945

A tweet from a man named Daniel Jeremiah defending Peppers regarding the Orange Bowl injury: https://twitter.com/MoveTheSticks/status/856853376918839297

and lastly, Kanell being an asshole to Daniel Jeremiah: https://twitter.com/dannykanell/status/856870410578800641

I can't believe ESPN still employs people this rude, and ignorant. Presumably, he has no more facts than any of us but continues to try to put Peppers in the ground. Sad

This 1,000 times over.  Disney needs to cut all channels except for ESPN and ESPN2.  That'll trim their payroll to manageable levels and keep them from having to broadcast the neverending stream of crappy sports talk "debate" shows.

Who watches that fucking nonsense, anyway?

With just 2 channels, they'll only have to broadcast what people really want to watch anyway.

They're a bloated dinosaur.  Trim the fat.

I mean...they're broadcasting radio shows...on fucking TV.  That should've been their first clue that they had too much air time to fill.

I'm not normally like this about people losing their jobs, but fuck Danny Kannel.  I hope he enjoys the unemployment line.

I know you like Jabrill Peppers and UM (as do I), but the world would be a very boring place if you weren't allowed to criticize anyone (even somewhat unfairly). Also giving a diluted sample at the combine is kind of a bone-headed move. Esp. when you're one of only two diluted samples from 200 players or whatever.

There will always be speculation about this and no one, except Jabrill knows for sure. I would like everyone to ask themselves the percentage of players in the nfl who smoke weed and/or take ped's. They are told when there tests are coming for a reason. That is so we can have a league.

at work. I drank so much water that day that I was peeing clear BEFORE it was my turn to leave a sample. "Negative dilute" was the result. negative for the drugs tested, dilute for whatever they check within the urine itself. fwiw Ive never done anything that would show up anyway (general test at least, minor cold medicine that pro sports have to watch)

I can see him being very critical of the diluted sample, but to say Michigan fans are stupid for believing he actually had an injury for the Orange Bowl is a bit much.

I heard him on Mike & Mike this morning briefly. He must have been trying to save face with Michigan fans when he said something along the lines of given guys more credit when they make it through a school like Stanford or Michigan with high academic standards.

I don't  believe he was.  He made the comment and likely was swarmed by Michigan fans.  Some pretty good takedowns in there I'd imagine, given he seemed a little butthurt and reacted with the "dumber than" and Orange Bowl comments.

The latter is over the line unless he has proof.  He should have to speak to that.  The other is a mild breeze in the hurricane of twitter nefariousness.

Russillo is the only good part of that show anymore.  I still listen to Russillo & Kannel quite frequently at work and the best shows are when Danny is gone and subbed with some other ESPN personality.  He takes such stupid and convoluted stances on a lot of issues.  He's the type of dude that wants to be seen as a good/nice guy but would turn on you in an instant if it suited his cause.

I have always disliked him. He's an idiot!! He reminds me of Sean Salisbury. They both act like they were Elway or Manning however they both sucked.

I get that today's media has to do things to gain viewers / attention however I think it turns people off to their programming. I for one don't watch ESPN anymore besides for live events. Sportcenter has turned into a complete joke with Sportcenter at 6 being the WORST one. I think the Internet has killed most of their viewers need to watch anymore. I don't know many people who watch ESPN anymore and it didn't used to be like that!

Did you know he has a local show in Houston?

Did you know that he was driving home 2 Christmas's ago (Actual Christmas Day) from Dallas to his home in Houston when he saw a homeless guy trying to hitchhike.  He drove past him and then circled back to pick him up.  He actually let the guy live in his house, he might still be living there,  and helped him get all the legal docs he needed for ID to help him get a job and everything.  Really kind of cool..

Comes across nothing like his radio persona.  But yeah, I can't listen to his show either.

If that is actually a true story then I have to say I was wrong about SS. I always thought he was a major Clown / Tool. Heck it might have been an act for TV who knows...

I have listened to Howard Stern for 20+ years and I hate Robin more and more each year. Then you see her off the show and she is completely different and says the "Radio Robin" is an act. But who knows. More often then not the radio acts seem to stem from the personal side somehow!

By creating this topic, linking to his tweets, and talking about him you're doing exactly what he wants.  Kanell is a hot take artist who has tried to walk the same shoes as Bayless and similar....  who cares, he's wrong.. move on.

I get it though, the majority of fans for any team are all this guy:

Ehh, if he was doing this to an OSU player we'd all be laughing about it and probably agreeing. Someone on this thread said earlier that the world would be an incredibly boring place if we weren't allowed to argue with and criticize each other. I tend to agree. Sometimes shit is going to get flung your way. Brush it off and move on.

I mean sure the guy is probably a troll and just trying to rub salt in the wound after FSU beat Michigan in the Orange Bowl, but he doesn't really know the facts. Neither do we. He's just trying to generate a response and piss people off. It generates clicks for him and gets him noticed.

Sadly, that's what news is devolving into these days.

He's just mad because Peppers is still going to get drafted and probably be a success and he wasn't very good.
