Dan Wetzel/Yahoo article on practice at IMG Academy (Favorable/Logical)
Sure, dead horse and all........ but it is the best article I have seen in regards to Spring Break in Bradenton, FL.
I particularly liked this:
"More notably, no one in college football cared when they expanded the regular season to run through Thanksgiving weekend, eliminating player's time with family during a traditional holiday break.
And no one is stepping up to kill bowl games that wipe out the end of the semester vacation – where regular students are often exhausted after the grind of finals. Instead, some teams get sent to hotel rooms in Shreveport or Detroit or wherever for Christmas Day itself, so there is college football television programming on the 26th and 27th."
Probably the best article on the subject I've read.
Yeah the NCAA is full of hypocrites
and the only prescription...
is more Harbaugh....
(apologies to Christopher Walken)
Harbaugh playing the cowbell is the ultimate elixer.
I'm hoping Harbaugh makes an adjustment and just adopts a Grapefruit League mentality for spring practice every year. He can rotate around the Tampa area and use non high school associated fields. Maybe USF, UCF, University of Tampa, Orlando area, etc. There are soooooo many fields to choose from in the area. This would remove the assocation with a specific high school. Hell, UM could purchase a "spring ball" bit of land and let the softball team use it as well.......maybe around the Lakeland area.
I wonder: could Michigan create a second facility, complete with baseball/softball fields, football practice fields, the works? Could they "host" home baseball/softball games in Florida? I'd love for them to find out.

but we have a seemingly strange academic parallel just a few miles east of the IMG facility in Bradenton: The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Yep, THAT Lake Erie. Always thought it was a bit unusual as I drove by. But it is a fully accredited branch of the (far) northern parent facility.
Exactly, like we have University of Michigan Dearborn and Flint, why not Miami! President of that campus could be one Stephen M. Ross. SEC & ACC admins' and coaches' reaction would be like this....
I'm of the opinion that this should absolutely happen. Plenty of schools have satellite academic campuses. Is there an NCAA rule prohibiting satellite athletic campuses? Because I now need this to be a thing.
but I'm guessing USF and UCF aren't going to let UM hold spring practices at their facilities.
I like your idea though.
...but an easy solution would be to use a junior college facility. Any good junior college football fields in teh Tampa area?
Now I REALLY like him.
Video at practice from mlive shows Peppers winning a race and shouting "your Sam linebacker is the fastest guy on the team"

The main problem with the hypocrites' argument is that the Michigan players aren't being exploited by the Spring Break trip—it's advantageous to them.

Butt supported spring practice in Florida from start: "No one asked us. No one asked us how we felt about it." says others should do this

Jake will be a 1st round pick for sure with his skills and positive team attitude.
Wetzel is cool but the podcast under that article is absolute trash. Complete failure in production.
