Is Dan Dakich awful or is it just me?

Absolutely elated with the win tonight!!! But I need to ask this question: Did anyone else find Dan Dakich unbelievably aweful tonight? An unranked team just took down #3 in the country at home and he seemed like someone just punched him in the nuts. I don't wanna take away from the post game celebration but I need to hear some other thoughts on this. Go Blue...Go 2014

If I have to hear him complain one more time about teams not swinging the ball from one side to the other before shooting, I am going to punch something.  He even did that on one possession where we did swing the ball and even threw it inside to the low post before LeVert missed a jumper.

Was very glad to see Stauskas load the team up on his back.  When we were only up 1, I was thinking about how much we needed Trey Burke at that moment to take over.  But Stauskas has a higher shooting percentage when the game is on the line.

What i find even more annoying is whenever spike hits a 3 the announcers immediately reference the national title game. This happens every game!! Yeah his first half performance was amazing but isn't referencing it every game overkill?

Spikes dad was a baller in Gary? #DakichGoToReferences I don't love Dakich all the time but for the most part like his willingness to be very opinionated. He's the anti Dickie V to me, willing to piss off fans if he thinks someone needs to be called out. Doesnt mean he's always right but so few guys do it, it's refreshing to me. He's made some questionable moves on Twitter however as others have pointed out.

The announcers don't do that for our benefit.  They do it for the benefit of the neutral observers who may not have watched Michigan play this year.  Same reason why we hear every game how John Beilein has never been an assistant, and why the 1989 team is referenced at every home game.

Everyone settle down. Dakich is actually pretty pro-Michigan. He acts the same way when he does IU games. He is extremely positive about Michigan most of the time and just because he says one negative thing it doesn't mean he hates Michigan. He's paid to be impartial. He isn't afraid to speak his mind and we should like that with announcers. I have talked to him multiple times in Bloomington, since I am a student there, and he is a pretty funny guy. He's not boring and we should all appreciate that.

I will admit that I bristled about his Index being based on not a lot of hard data and being prone to recency effects, but from a quality standpoint, as others have mentioned, from a knowledge / quality standpoint, Dakich is probably in the top tier of commentators out there and not nearly as difficult to take as Vitale or some others. I do appreciate that he is willing to be forthright about things he finds good as well as not so good sometimes too.

While he may overuse the superlatives, at least he's on the side of the athletes for the most part.  He is frequently appreciative of the good things the teams and players do.  Of course he points out the negatives (not swinging the ball), but he's a far cry from Knight, in whose eyes no player has ever done anything as well as he should.  Ever.

I feel like a more knowledged fan because of his insight of the game of basketball. He keeps it real and even keeled. I would go as far to say that he should be the mold of color analysts for all sports. I usually tune out broadcasters while Dakich grabs my attention because of the significant value add of his commentary. Most of the time he is spot on and is man enough to admit when he is wrong. He is #1 for college basketball in my book.

If you like him now, wait until you play OSU.  If he does that game, his man-crush for Aaron Craft will make you throw up in your mouth.

BTW, good win last night, guys.  Very impressed with your team--especially sans McGary.  If Stauskas is hot, I don't look forward to our (MSU) match with you.

He is the most annoying commentator i have ever had to listen to. I don't even think he watches the games he is at, spends more time talking about things other than the game at hand. And ESPN TV directors have no Idea of how to manage TV coverage. Spend time showing a player sitting on the sidelines or a coach walking up and down the sideline while the game in inplay. Showing billboard about game matchup's in none related conference to the game being played, so lone that the game in inplay when they cut back to it. Come on we are here to watch the game not a player sitting on the side or some fan in the stands. Show the game, we already have to side thru more commercials than playing time becuase of your money hungry politics.
