I have a bachelors and masters in engineering from UM, and I've also taken classes at the local CC, Washtenaw CC (mainly computer programming classes to supplement my aerospace background).
WCC has nice facilities, and I think the quality of instruction there is OK, but not as challenging as that of UM.
I've known a couple of people who transferred from WCC to UM and were surprised at how much more difficult things were at UM, at least in the technical/science classes.
Not that I'm knocking WCC, I'm taking another class there now and may do another in the fall, but I do think you get a more rigorous education at UM and perhaps a better experience (i.e., more fun) too.
