Dammit Mike Hart did not just say that

Submitted by DesHow21 on

Mike just said "We are like a big Brother to Ohio State. We don't really spend too much time thinking about them. They worry way too much about us." [paraphrasing of course]

Face palm...three major arteries in Hoke's head just exploded and he had to taken to UofM hospital....really ironic considering Mike was speaking at the Mott benefit.

Update:

Morgan Trent, Leon Hall and Mike Hart are tearing Sparty a new ******* right now.

The guys are basically taking the line:

"Yeah you beat us the last 2-3 years, but who didn't. Beat us when we have a REAL program now that Brady Hoke is here"

tag to "amen"

I've always felt that Lloyd did lose a little of his coaching power between guiding the ego of Woodson (a player anointed Mr. Ohio) and Braylon (a legacy) and Hart (a player labelled too small, except for the chip on his shoulder).  All three were playmakers for Michigan, but only Braylon and Hart make me cringe by what they say as alumni.

But in reality, there is a section of the Michigan Students and Alumni who are the ones who propagate the Michigan Arrogance, those who have to point out the stupidity MSU and OSU alumni, fans, etc.

They just never understood that the best thing to do is just walk the walk, and leave the talking to the talking heads.

I guess that's all they are now.

Braylon has said and done plenty of embarrassing stuff.  To me, Hart trumpeting the ineffable awesomeness of UM no matter what is not at all analogous.

Please note that Mike's comment's never revolve around him personally - they are always about the university and the football program.  So what if by all objective measures he's a bit delusional about the relationship between OSU and UM the past few years - I don't see anything wrong with the dude continuing to shout that UM was, is, and ever shall be better for all to hear.

Seriously, you guys take the rationalist credo too far around here.  This is harmless, rather tame trash talk that in no way embarasses the university.

That Hart and Edwards are just talking heads now?

I'm not sure what that means, but what, exactly, the fuck does that make you in relation to the university?

(Somewhat tangential, but the fact that you seem to be taking some veiled shots at Woodson too - though he by the grace of god seems to have avoided the dire misfortune of causing you displeasure - means that you are by definition a hater.  Of course, we don't know whether said hatred is borne from failed dreams of athletic competence (Drew Sharp Syndrome); racial biases; or general, existential small-dickedness.  But hatin' on Chuck ... that is some highly-refined haterade.)

Dear Mike,

We are not like a big brother to Ohio.  We're not related in anyway.  They are the pedophile truckers that we want to keep away from our little brother, Sparty.  See what Dantonio did to him?

for some of these guys.

Just about three weeks ago, Angelique Chengelis was writing in the Detroit News that it was time for all Wolverines to start pulling together:

http://detnews.com/article/20110423/OPINION03/104230386/1330/OPINION0320

Now, her Twitter feed (from the golf outing?) looks like a laundry list of former letterwhiners, all complaining about the program for the last three years.  Are these alumni football player events really a good idea?

Somebody said something very much like that on the air. It was somewhat difficult to tell who was talking. Whoever said it, I  understand their perspective. I am basically all done with people taking random sentences and reading into them the sinister nature of the person who uttered them. Whoever it was,( I think it was Dreisbach) prefaced his statement by vowing his support to the University and the players on the team, but that he had more pleasurable ways to spend his football Saturdays. More power to him in my book.

For the most part the guys who were on the radio were talking shit in a relaxed environ, they weren't overtly attacking RR. Seemingly anything said in flattery about Hoke, will be construed as a direct frontal attack on RR, by a minority segment of M fans.

...he did say that.

"To answer that honestly, I didn't really watch much (U-M) football last year," Dreisbach said. "I was kind of done with the (spread) experiment. I was waiting for the experiment to end. I saw the ticker on the bottom (of the TV screen) — see who had won, who had lost.

"I did not waste my day — nothing against the players. I mean, I have a 5-year-old boy so I wasn't going to spend my Saturdays sitting in front of the TV watching something that frustrated me. The experiment is over. I'm back, I'm buying in, I'm happy for everyone here. I'm happy for the players (because) they're going to have a great staff. I'm happy the change has been made. It brings me back to what I want to watch."

I don't think these comments are necessarily helpful but . . . it's May.  Comments made in the spring by an ex-player will not affect the outcome of the game on November 26.

There's simply not a classy way to taunt Ohio State right now.

We come off as insecure when we speak of the areas that we know to be superior in.  They know our school is more highly regarded just as we do.  There's no reason to bring it up.
We can relish Tressel's situation and hope for justice/the worst to come down on OSU amongst friends, but we shouldn't gloat.
and as far as football goes, we can't say a damn thing about the last seven years.

To me, if there's one person associated with UM football the past 7 years who can talk shit about OSU, it's Hart.

Because he would talk shit even if he lost 5 more in a row.  It's not malicious - hell, it's hardly impolite.  It's just how the dude rolls.  I think he really belives the shit, too.

If it will help, think of Mike as our very own Black Knight vis a vis OSU (bad wheels and all.)

Come back here and take what's coming to you. I'LL BITE YOUR LEGS OFF!

I'm sorry, but this shit still bothers me. There is just such a douchy vibe that comes out of Carr and his players.

It's the right PR move for Hoke to embrace these big mouth punks because if he doesn't, they'll whine about it publicly and create another fiasco. But given how Hoke doesn't seem to like talking about Lloyd and given his comments about how people who tried to divide the family "pissed him off," I'd bet he'd rather not.

Michigan is on its way back, but my memories of 2001-2010 are soiled. 2007-10 because the results were horrible and the drama unbearable. I'd like to forget 2001-2007 because the results were less than desirable and many of our players (and head coach) largely exposed themselves as really unlikeable people in the following years.

Because last I checked, Lloyd Carr and Morgan Trent were getting sideways with each other in the press, over Trent spreading second-hand rumors about what 'Carr said about what RR said.'  Does anybody believe Morgan Trent anymore?

Comes out of Carr and his players . . . . . Stop It!  You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.  Carr has never publicly said a bad thing about Ohio State.  Hart is a cocky instigator.  That's the way he is.  Made him a heck of running back.  Just leave Carr out of it, 'cause you're WAAYY off base there.

He's got quite a mess to clean up now.

Check; Brandon AND Brady Hoke.

Tomorrow's headlines, today (no blame on Angelique, she's just doing her job, reporting what she's hearing):

U-M has 'real program' now, ex-Wolverine Morgan Trent says

From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20110513/SPORTS0201/105130442/U-M-has--real-program--now--ex-Wolverine-Morgan-Trent-says#ixzz1MGlHG9LZ

"Ex-Wolverine" has a nice ring to it.

Not much of a sense of humor going on over here on mgoblog.  Lighten up Francis.  It's a message board in a thread talking about universities serving as metaphorical brothers.  LOL.

I would hope not.

I cannot understand how certain players and fans overlook MSU.  We are their biggest game of the season and are circled on their calendars.

I like Hoke's take on rivalry games: It's almost personal.  As soon as another team considers UM their rival, it becomes personal, and we must stomp them accordingly.   We must bring out the big guns against the opponents that are gunning for us.
