DE Daishon Neal announced that he will remain committed to Nebraska. Had considered Michigan and was recently offered by Wolverines

so who were the coaches that were there for that in home visit?
EDIT: from tweets looks like it was just Mattison. WTF?
January 27th, 2015 at 9:39 AM ^
Per the twitters
January 27th, 2015 at 9:42 AM ^
of a 17-18 year old recruit, I'd like to think that Mattison would never have said anything like that to a potential recruit.
January 27th, 2015 at 9:48 AM ^
Taking "you wouldn't get accepted to UM w/o FB" and declaring "he basically tried to call me stupid in my own house" is a bit of an overstatement.
Either way, GMatt said something that bothered the family. I'm sure he will/has apologized
January 27th, 2015 at 10:03 AM ^
on the way to the Neal home and he gave him his silent verbal to be a Wolverine. And the Neals didn't like that they were no longer recruiting him.
Yeah, that's it.......that's the story! /s

Meh, Michigan took one of 2. They'll survive.
January 27th, 2015 at 9:33 AM ^
He's been a real disappointment so far

Probably hear about Pickard soon?
January 27th, 2015 at 9:33 AM ^
Sounds like the in-home visit did not, um, go well...someone will inevitably post the tweets here detailing the visit.
January 27th, 2015 at 9:36 AM ^
Hmm, tweets coming out now. I wonder if this will blow up?
January 27th, 2015 at 9:38 AM ^
Hopefully not. Especially with one week to go before NSD, some pub we don't need
January 27th, 2015 at 9:58 AM ^
I hope so too but generic media will probably spin it as "Michigan calls recruit stupid, gets thrown out of house".
January 27th, 2015 at 9:33 AM ^
seeing if you can get a date with the prom queen then when she says yes you figure well I better stay with the steady g/friend it safer...
January 27th, 2015 at 9:34 AM ^
I can't wait to see how stacked these next few classes will be when they are able to put in more time with these kids. Sky's the limit, gentlemen.

I'm not going to hate on this kid for making an announcement cause I'm sure if he committed to Michigan we would all be sky high, but it's probably best for both parties involved. Wish him well, one kid isn't going to make the difference.

a lot of that going around lately. Being humble is apparently no longer seen as a virtue.
January 27th, 2015 at 9:41 AM ^
to say something like that. Apparently Mattison was one of the coaches on the visit, and I can't imagine him doing that. If they did it was a colossal mistake, but I'm betting it was a very unfortunate misunderstanding.
January 27th, 2015 at 9:45 AM ^
Neal's father says Michigan's coaching staff made one mistake, said his son probably wouldn't be able to get into school w/out football
— Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) January 27, 2015
At that point, Neal's father told U-M's coaching staff to leave the house -- he was leaning toward U-M, then threw them out of the house

Neal: "Theybasically tried to call me stupid in my own house." ... Apparently Michigan offended the Neal family quite a bit there
— Nick Baumgardner(@nickbaumgardner) January 27, 2015
Either way, that's as intense a recruit radio interview I've ever heard. Crazy.

There's always two sides to the story. Luckily for Neal I don't think Gmatt is allowed to share his publicly.
Based on magnus's "murky" comments and this nonsense, best of luck kid.
January 27th, 2015 at 9:44 AM ^
So apparently Michigan flat out told him that he wouldn't have been able to get in without football? A, it doesn't seem like Mattison would be that blunt. B, how many kids on the team couldn't get into the school without football? Let's be real, it's not like a state school where a 3.0 GPA is good enough. And C, he goes on a Nebraska radio station to blast Michigan and have a vandetta out? Sounds VERY fishy to me.

I smell a rivalry brewing...
Maybe not, but he's definitely going to have a chip on his shoulder when he plays us.

You can't have a rivalry if you don't play each other. U-M doesn't play Nebraska in the regular season until 2018. The only way they play each other before is if both teams are in the B1G championship game.

They claimed they have Warren Buffet ( in Nebraska) and that's all they need and that Nebraska had more academic All-Americans at the school than Michigan had. ...

If you go up to 100 women and ask them to have sex with you, 99 of them will slap you in the face, but the 1 who says yes will make the 99 slaps in the face worth the effort.
January 27th, 2015 at 10:24 AM ^
luckily I have a high tolerance for pain.
January 27th, 2015 at 12:49 PM ^
And humiliation apparently...hope that 100th special lady was worth it?!
January 27th, 2015 at 10:27 AM ^
And if you're into getting slapped as well... That's really a 100% success rate. HARBAUGH!
January 27th, 2015 at 11:32 AM ^
I don't want to get slapped in my sack either
January 27th, 2015 at 10:30 AM ^
It's late in the game, flipping someone after they make a huge decision like where to go school is always going to be difficult.

if he took offense to something Mattison said he probably is pretty dumb. He is obviously over sensative to it. Good luck to him.

Daishon Neal says Greg Mattison was confident in landing Matt Snyder, but Neal says he is going to try get Snyder to stay w Nebraska.

I'm starting to wonder if this kid is making some of this up.
January 27th, 2015 at 10:04 AM ^
It sure seems like it. Either Mattison had the most blunt in-house visit in the history of recruiting (which is possible) or this kid is letting his imagination go a bit here.
January 27th, 2015 at 10:05 AM ^
January 27th, 2015 at 10:31 AM ^
Probably Nebraska put him up to it to stop Michigan from stealing their players.........that's my conspiracy theory anyway.
January 27th, 2015 at 9:54 AM ^
wouldn't be able to get into Michigan if it weren't for football. Nothing shocking here guys. That's the reality of the situation. There's a bigger issue here and it's not about the football players being stupid but the flipped priorities of what is important and its no longer academics.
January 27th, 2015 at 9:55 AM ^
Wonder if this was a situation where the parents asked Mattison if their son would be able to get into Michigan if he wasn't a football player and he just answered honestly. I have a hard time believing he would just randomly tell the kid he had no chance at Michigan without football.
January 27th, 2015 at 10:03 AM ^
completely agree. I have an easier time digesting this if it's a first yr assistant who has never/barely recruited before. We are talking about a guy who has done this for 20-30+ yrs and has been a national recruiter of the yr. The guy has seen every situation, I'm sure he's not going to attack a kid.
