Nice to see him making plays and being noticed, even if it's practice [obligatory practice we're talkin' practice] and second team defense. As a Jets fan, I sure hope he makes the roster and helps out (especially if Revis continues his holdout).
Lots of people mention lack of elite speed and/or ankle injury prior to the combine to explain why he didn't get drafted. I think it had at least as much to do with the fact that we didn't have the luxury of showcasing his ability to play tight man defense because he had to help make up for weaknesses throughout our secondary. He did that fairly well, and I could see him helping the Jets as a nickel, dime, or safety type, and if we needed it as a primary cb.
Really wish he could help Michigan this year--and he would have been better able to showcase his skills with a now competent Woolfolk opposite him, resulting in much higher draft stock (obviously)--but as far as I'm concerned the Jets got a steal and I hope he continues to impress.
