D. Hart possibilities in our offense.

Submitted by switch26 on

Ok, i think this is a good change of pace in light of all the posts about RR future etc..

But i wanna know what people think about Hart's possible role in our offense next year.

Looking back at his size, he is very similar to Devine, even though Devine was possibly a little faster.  I think this kid is gonna be a huge key in our offense getting pressure off of Denard.  I know he will be a freshman, but still he looks to have a lot more promise than any other back ive seen in a while.  What do other people think?

And just cause, here is a great highlight vid from Devine back in the day.

is a RB away from being a dynamic offense which is scary considering that Michigan offense is already top 5-10 in the country.  They need a RB who can take pressure off Denard.  The lower the rushing yards(and carries) for Denard, the better it is for Michigan offense.  It means that the RBs are taking pressure off Denard and is forcing the defense to take account for both players which makes the rushing offense even more dangerous.

If Dee Hart is as good as advertised, we would expect the offense to take a step forward from this season.  Michigan would still run the QB iso play to take advantage of Denard's running ability, but not on a frequent basis.

If the RB problem is solved as well as Denard's improved mechanics next season, I would expect the offense to be #1 or #2 in the country by a mile.

they should line up 4 players in the backfield. shoelace, devin, shaw, and dee hart. and let them keep faking hand offs to each other in organized khaos (with a 'k'), and then score a touchdown. i call the play, "weeeeeee"

he is an instant contributor to the offense to take the load off Denard and keep him healthier throughout the season. I have two worries for the offense that I welcome to be calmed by anyone.

1. Freshman fumbles, we have seen this a lot.

2. Denard's "touch" on long passes. This may have been because of health issues, if not, then does anyone see Denard improving his pass game for next year? Please?

I think Denard has a ton of room for improving his passing by next year.  He is gonna learn a lot more of the play book, and the game is gonna continue to slow down for him dramatically..

Freshman fumbled have been an issue, or just fumbles period for anyone..  But from reading different reviews about Hart, is he has incredible hands.  Rivals said he had better hands than anyone on our team already, but that remains to be seen.

I did watch his 7 v 7 Scrimmages from the summer and he is pretty incredible at catching a football from anywhere on the field.  Should be an interesting year next year.  Hopefully all our backs stay healthy..

Having Smith healthy the whole off season will help as well as Toussaint,Shaw and Hopkins.

touch on long passes are due to mechanics issue which is probably related to injuries.  He has a tendency to step to the side when loading up to throw the ball.  He also has a tendency to drop his shoulder when passing.  His release points aren't consistent.  He's going to need the off-season to work on the passing fundamentals as well as getting a full knowledge of the playbook.

his issues.  mechanics most certainly are, however not due to injury issues.  i was at the spring game in which he had finess issues and i am pretty sure he was healthy then.  you could conceivably liken his finess/mechanics issues to a baseball pitcher.  a zumya for instance, he does not have control of his power, occasionally he can spot the ball and or throw a great curve.  overall zoom zoom does not control his arm his arm controls him.  right now, atleast as i see it, Denard's natural abilities control him as opposed to Denard controling them.  when he learns touch no D will be able to crowd the box, ever and get away with.  i like the poster under you who mentions that  comptetion with Devin will push him to greatness!  Go Blue it is bowlin time!

There is a difference between freshman playing because they have to due to depth chart problems (see secondary) than playing because they are too good to redshirt, which would be the case for Hart if he does play since RB has better depth than this year's secondary (which it would be harder to have less depth than the secondary)

IME, one of the biggest things this offense is missing is a back that can be used in the zone read that is as scary to defenses as Denard. Once everyone realized that Smith, Shaw, etc. aren't as scary as Denard, they could just key on him. I haven't seen a whole lot of zone read going on lately, maybe because of that.

Dees playing time will be decided based on his ball control. If he's going to fumble once a game, he'll ride bench most of next year. Last thing we need is more offensive backfiring.

I think he plays a good amount, mostly at RB put playing some in the slot.  However, I'm excited to see what a fresh Toussaint looks like next fall.  Now that he's healthy, he's been getting some touches.  He hasn't done much, but he hasn't had much of a chance to.

Either way, I think we have a dynamic RB next fall.

Just watched that Oregon video... Is it just me or do they operate on a completely different offensive level than us? Their speed is unbelievable, and their read option/dive is executed flawlessly.

the best running back in the country right now so yea..their offense is on a different level. If we had running back like Lamichael James back there with Denard we would see the true potential of this offense.

It's not just James though... Maybe its the design of our offense to develop at a slower pace, but it just seems like their plays open up unbelievable quick. Its like the balls snapped and a second later someone is 10 yards downfield.

In addition, it seems like their bubble screens are much more effective than ours. The design of the play doesn't seem to be any different. (And just to clarify our offense is fantastic. Obviously room for growth however, and Oregon is just ridiculous.)

I'm thinking Kick-Off returning duties is his opportunity to crack the lineup.  If he can step in and add some competition to Kick-Off Returns, that would be very valuable. (Hayes might be that guy as well)

Note: His pad level looks a bit lower than Noel's - which is a good thing.

I'm looking forward to the running back competition.  We need some of that for next year.  We could use a few complimenting small agile backs to go with Hopkins.  Shaw, Vincent, Fitzy, Hart, I like the options.

There's some other talk on this post about Denard's touch on the long pass.  IMHO, once he masters the long ball we have arrived.  So promising it's scary!

I know some people have been asking if he would attend an all-star game and I didn't see this anywhere else. I was going to post this on the board but I don't think that I have enough points so maybe someone else can put this up so that more people can see it.

Thursday, December 2nd at 11:00 AM, everyone is invited to attend a special ceremony honoring Dr. Phillips Football senior Demetrius Hart as he is officially invited to particpate in the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, January 8th, at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas.  Dee is the first Dr. Phillips High School Football player ever invited to play in arguably the nation's most prestigious all-star game.  Representatives from the Bowl will be on hand to honor Dee in front of his family, team and classmates in front of the Media Center at the beginning of 'A' lunch.
