It's not like that's a licensed name, and you'd be violating copyright.  However, considering the letter that the athletic department sent out, and the fact that the MDEN just became the official merch provider again (rightfully so) they probably wouldn't do it.  As usual the NCAA is completely hypocritical, they have no problem making money off a certain player's number, but they wave their finger at using his nickname.

...buy it customized with all the letters needed to spell 'SHOELACE' but in a different order so as not to tip anyone off to your real purpose- then use a seam ripper to take the letters off and put them back on in the right order...

You'd have to make sure you've got someone who can make it look as good as the real thing.

If you don't have that, you would just need the patience to get it right.

Once it's done, you'll be the envy of everyone else who wanted one, but couldn't order it.
