Welp, I would be happy, but it doesn't matter. With the way Urban is recruiting, they'll have another guy just as good right behind him. Impressive what Urbs  is doing down there. Like Calipari but with more winning.

The universe where DeBord / English gets hired in 2008 is an interesting one. I think it involves a better record than 3-9 that year, but I'd expect subsequent years to be mediocre at best. Having the bowl streak end a couple of years later seems realistic. And, yes, I think those are the RichRod alternatives in 2008. Hopefully the English universe wouldn't have ended with him screaming at his team while being recorded. :)

Obviously he has a ton of talent there, but eventually football is so physical that there will be years where more guys fall off and fewer guys live up to expectations. I'm pretty sure Ohio State is actually going to be very thin at playmaker positions next year. Obviously their freshman will probably be very good, but imo they're losing 7/10 best players after losing basically their entire starting lineup a year ago.

Calipari won a national title, runner-up and final fours, etc. at Kentucky.  His record there is comparable or bettern than Urbs record at OSU.  Just a weird comment for you to throw in at the end there.

Can he backdate this to just before 3rd and 9 in the second overtime of the The Game plz?  Thanks Curtis, you're the best.

Every early declaration we've had thus has been no big deal. This is the only one that is going to be extremely difficult to replace. Don't get me wrong, we have offensive weapons ready to come in and contribute, but it will still be hard to make up for his production.

From what I've been told, up until Saturday he was leaning towards coming back. He had discussed with his family, was sold on the Kevin Wilson hire, and he even bought a flight back to Columbus for Sunday. Ultimately, he had a change of heart, which is probably what is best for him.

freshman going to be forced into a bigger role this year than some of the returning guys? I find it hard to read OSU stuff without getting super jealous so

1. Is JK Dobbins a running back or H-back?

2. Are Tyjon Lindsey and Trevon Grimes projected to play next year?

3. Is Martell going to be the backup? Joe Burrows seems like an odd fit.

4. Is KJ Hill any good? I feel like it could be a tough year for them considering their best OL is probably going to be a true Soph.

1. Not really sure yet. I'd be surprised if Dobbins play next year. The void left by Samuel will likely be filled by Demario McCall who is going to be VERY good.

2. I expect at least one of them to come in and contribute right away. Both would be ambitous, though not out of the question.

3. My guess is Tate redshirts next year. Burrows is not so much an odd fit, but could be a casualty of having too many QBs. Some say he might transfer, especially if Dwayne Haskins passes him on the depth chart.

4. KJ showed a lot of promise last year. Honestly, nobody has any idea how the offense will be with a new regime coming in. I, for one, am very bullish about it, but losing Curtis definitely stings.

McCall is athletic but man he is awfully thin. I would rather have samuel. Seems he accounted for a great deal of the offense and was Barretts security blanket. I thought Barrett would have a better year, but losing o-line and elliot has exposed him greatly. Things are getting tighter and I am not calling a favorite.

Yeah, he needs to bulk up. He is a lot like Curtis was as a freshman both in usage and build. I remember when Samuel first played in 2014 he was a lighting quick jitterbug type, but he was not built like he is today.

Watch out for Bin Victor. He emerged late last season as a strong receiver option and he seems to be the trendy pick for a breakout candidate.

1.  Dobbins is a RB.  His film is really good.

2.  Hearing that Grimes will be the best WR at OSU as soon as he hits campus.  Which says a lot both about Grimes and the current OSU WRs.

3.  There is massive disagreement in OSU fanbase about the QB position.  Each of the 4 QBs (Barrett, Burrows, Haskins, Tate) has supporters and detractors.  I love Burrows -- quick release, very accurate, decent athlete; looked very good in spring ball and in limited reps this season.  Will be very interesting to see what happens next year, as Barrett struggles to throw the ball, but is clutch, a very good runner and two-time BIG offensive MVP.

4.  Not enough information on Hill.  He looks good, but the pass offense has been so bad that it is tough to tell.

but it will be harder to replace Malik Hooker and Raekwon McMillan that Samuel. Those guys will definitley be 1st rounders. Samuel, I'm not so sure. He is a "depends on need" type of player. He was their only homerun hitter this year, but the reason they beat us was Hooker and McMillan.

NFL Draft stock and value to a college team don't necessarily go hand in hand.

Without Samuel, they may not have scored either of their OT TDs.  The first was set up by a playfake to him and the second was scored by him (and set up by his crazy 3rd and 9 play).

Yeah, this is true.  You could have an NFL level 1st/2nd round talent leave you, but if you're particularly strong in that area of the roster on your college team, the drop off might not be that big.

Conversely, you could see a NFL 4th or 5th rounder go, but if back on your college roster you have bad depth, the differential could be very big.

Has IU released anything official regarding what happened? I saw that a bunch of current and past Indiana players came out on social media to defend Kevin Wilson, and said that he was tough, but never abusive. It sounds a lot like the Mike Leach situation at Texas Tech where the allegations were much worse than what actually happened, but the university cut their losses anyways to avoid bad publicity.
