Cunningham / Dell - 18 mos. probation

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/football/ncaa/03/08/spartans-suspe...

I assume the other thugs will get the same period of time.

So, Dantonio, the "legal process is over" for these two starting WRs.... what is your decision on their status???

easy.

Dantonio makes them starters and captains.

Meanwhile, I think Demar Dorsey is up to no good.

They will be great comeback players and everyone will remark how great Mark Dantonio is. Where Rich Rodriquez will be seen as getting a team full of thugs that "run 4.3's getting away from police."

Alcohol & Drug Program

Weren't these guys coming from the team awards banquet or something? Dantonio serves drinks at team functions - no wonder he's winning the in-state recruiting.

18 months probation and 150

18 months probation and 150 hours of community service is probably a good punishment in terms of the legal system. However, I think they need to be suspended for more than a single game hopeless game that means nothing to their season. I would expect to see the players involved sit for a game or two at the beginning of the 2010 season, but that won't happen.

They'll probably be held out of practice in the Spring

and come the fall, all will be forgiven and forgotten. Typical Dantonio. He doesn't want to share RR's hot seat.

Hmmm...

I wonder that the modern-day record for most convicted criminals on one D-1 team is? At least MSU could say their football team was the best at something.

The Punishment fits the Crime

Let's be honest - These kids are idiots, committed petty assault, and are being punished with a proverbial slap on the wrist.

They'll probably be on bitch duty for the majority of spring practice, run a lot of laps and do a lot of push ups.

Let's be honest - if this was Daryll Stonum and Martavious Odoms, we would be pushing for the same thing.

While I agree that Dantonio is a weak disciplinarian and set a poor tone for his program, I don't think getting kicked off the team is a fair punishment for these guys.

If this happened in my program, I would make them miss a good portion of spring practice, be on bitch duty (whatever that is) for the rest of it, sit the spring game, and miss the season opener in the fall. All the while doing community service and proving to me that they belong on the team.

That seems like the best punishment in my book.

If I am being honest, I think

If I am being honest, I think if these kids were on Michigan's football team, I would want them to get their second chances at another school. Gang intimidation is much different than one guy getting into a bar brawl or getting into a fight.

Agree

Something seems worse to me due to the fact that 11 of them were involved. I don't know the whole truth but it seems to be worse than what I am reading. I am all for giving someone another chance but when 11 'gang' up on a couple of others it makes me sick.
