Cue the New Shirt Design in the MGoStore

Hey, it's been a good couple of months here at MGoBlog.  First we hire this guy Hoke, then he hires this guy Mattison, then they reel in a pretty sweet class.  Next thing we know, Belein gets the team into the Tournament.  Red gets his boys one period away from a national title.  And then the spring game is, well, the spring game.  The Girls Softball Team destroys all competition on its way to the conference title. Brandon recently announces that Lacrosse is going D-1 Team Sport.  Top that off with a ridonkulous string of success in the recruiting department, not to mention the delicious schadenfreude of the media bombing of Columbus and life is just plain old good here at MGoBlog.

And so, we must celebrate.  With a shirt.*

The Henson family would never, ever, sue over such a thing.  I mean different family members have been suing each other over the rights to the muppets franchise and there has been an injunction against airing / selling / distributing all things muppets (and why it's not on tv for the last 10 years) until it is resolved, but besides that, I'm sure they would have zero problem with this.......

What are you talking about? Disney bought The Muppets from The Jim Henson Co. at least ten years ago. The reason they haven't been very visible is that they really don't seem to know what to do with them. I'm really hoping the new Jason Segel directed Muppet move does really realy well.

...would an Obama gas station violate trademark law? There is a gas station near Joy Rd and Evergreen in the Dearborn area that has, on its sign, Obama's campaign logo and a big old picture of his face. The sign with the prices, and the sign on the store, says it's the Obama gas station.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe public figures have no recourse to trademarks that are based on their public lives.

There's actually two Obama gas stations.  Supposedly on a campaign swing Obama's motorcade drove by one of them and it's said he got a kick out of it.

Does anybody know what ever became of the L-I-A-R shirt with the I-dotting design? I remember it coming out and I thought it was going to be an actual shirt, but I can't find it in the store.

I'm in need of a few new shirts and there are plenty of other good choices, but that one in paticular I was looking forward to.

Temptation and Hawaiin War chant are long time Michigan Band and fans favorite..The Band has performed those songs at the Rose Bowl, Tailgates, pregame, gametime throughout the years...really cool percussion routine..

 

The muppets have sung both as youve seen...A big Michigan Victory warrants playing the muppets...reserved for  BIG wins..

 think I have that right..anyone?

Agree with Turd_Ferguson, would like to know the origin of the Muppets post. Though it's funny that I can throw up Muppets on FB and instantly 40 of my friends know somewhere, a Michigan team is celebrating a victory. Not bad that mgoblog has that type of visibility. 

Using the term Wildcat to describe a direct snap to anyone other than a QB is like calling any rock band from the early 90s Grunge.

This is an awesome shirt, and comes with instant street cred as an mgoblog insider. Regarding the meaning of the muppets, it's my understanding simply that because the Muppet Show did BOTH the Hawaiian War Chant and Temptation, the songs the band plays at every game for the drumline's cadence and after a big play (you might recognize the latter as the song the student chant sings "You suck..." to after a third-down stop). Muppet-sang + our pep songs = how could you not use them?

AND YES--buy them before they get pulled! I have my "Strike a Pose" Desmond t-shirt from before the NCAA folks caught wind of our little Mgoblog store, and I only wish I had gotten some of the others while I could have.
