Manny was recently waived by the Cavs.
The reason? Freezer burn on his foot made him unable to compete.
How did he get freezer burn on his foot? By stepping into a chamber that lowers to -166 degrees farenheit while wearing wet socks.
This is terrible to see as we all thought Manny had so much NBA potential. Hopefully he recovers in a timely fashion and can get another gig in the association.

According to the article it helps to oxygenate the blood. Why wear socks at all they certainly aren't going to provide any warmth whatsoever.
I'd be interested to learn of any medical professionals outside Ohio put stock in this theory, because it sounds to me like some real morans came up with it.

Icing muscles after working out constricts blood vessels, which reduces swelling... which in turn reduces soreness and helps recovery. I suppose if the blood remains in the blood vessels (and travels to the lungs as blood in veins tends to do) rather than pooling in the muscle tissue that would increase oxygen in the blood.
So could this treatment effectively combat 4-hour, Viagara-induced erections? (You obviously wouldn't want a sock on.)

To the point of the post, however, this sounds like one of the famous / infamous one-in-a-billion scenarios for injury, and hopefully, Manny gets another opportunity somewhere. This would not be the preferred way to go out, I am sure.

I must be the one that saw very little pro potential in Manny Harris. Hope the freezer burn improves, but I don't think Manny was going all-NBA any time soon.
