Cowherd said to keep RichRod!

Submitted by maizenblue92 on
Sportsnation was just talking about RichRod and they said to give him more time to build the program. He basically said that he needs more than 2 years given the circumstances, and that if we judge coaches on two years than Jabba was a great coach.

does find a nut once in a while. Colon Cowturd does on occasion make a spot on assessment. He is right on this. Rich has till 2011 to show he can put together a team of HIS PLAYERS to make his style of football work at Michigan. If not, UM football goes the was that basketball did over prior to Beilein, imho.

I dont really get too involved with what blathering talking heads have to say.....but I was working out at lunch with the Van Pelt show on, and they were talking about Rodirguez. He and his cohost said its dumb to let him go. But, thats not what caught my attention in their comments. Van Pelt said, and this is pretty close to exact, that what do you expect when you have so few scholarship players compared to your rivals. Thats the real under reported story is how did UM's cupboard get so bare. Rodriguez needs time to stock the program back up. I was like, whoa somebody is an mgoblog reader!!! I think he read Misopogon's diary

but I think someone read it to him, since I have absolutely no evidence that Scott Van Pelt can actually read. He strikes me as a guy who hangs around all day in the ESPiN cafeteria, listening to table talk, until its time for him to do a radio show or sportscenter or a guest appearance. Has anyone ever heard him say something original?

and the offense was struggling, I would agree with Cowerd completely. But the offense is at least competent. And I'm unsure what "his players" means with respect to the defense. That being said, Michigan needs more defensive talent, and I agree that RR should get more time. I just wish I point to more freshmen and recruits on the defense side to make me think the defense will get(much) better.

I'm sure he used some personal anecdote or life experience to justify it too, "as I always say" . . . nothing annoys me more than that man and his inflated sense of importance.

I have casually spoken about this who is NOT a Michigan fan - and by that I mean people who have no vested interest in his success or failure - tell me that it would be stupid to let him go at this stage of the game, that he is rebuilding and they get it. Obviously, the perspective changes when you are talking to Michigan fans or other Big Ten team fans who are impacted by RR's future.

and two weeks ago I was talking to my best friends dad whom has been a die hard buckeye for his whole life. Even this man, that hates everything Michigan said that this is not RR fault. It would be stupid to fire him and you cant blame him for the worst defense in Michigan history. Just give the man time and Michigan will be twice what WVU was. Those are pretty much his exact words. For a buckeye season ticket holder to say that is pretty werid but I think spoken pretty true.

In the end won't the alumni want to start seeing wins vs OSU and bowl games. I know that shouldn't have anything to do with his tenure here but it will. They are the ones that paid for his buyout and the new additions to the Big House. We can't really expect to lose six or seven in a row to OSU can we. I know be needs time but he also needs wins. It seems like dumb logic but this is Michigan and that's what the fans and the alumni expect. I know that it just doesn't fix itself but tell that to the people writing the donation checks to the university. I want more than anything to be a powerful team and I understand that it is going to take him three or four years to do this. I just don't know how much longer he has left.

He usually dumps on us, esp in the days of Lloyd, but has recently chastised "all you Michigan haters out there" for taking glee in our downfall. Cowherd knocks the Big Ten but concedes it's better for the conference, when Michigan gets good again, which he assumes will happen under RR.

He doesn't "usually dump" on Michigan--and for YEARS he has been saying the same things about Michigan and Lloyd Carr that the Army of Rodriguez Apologists are saying now. Must be embarrassing to be parroting a guy everyone thinks is a hater or an idiot, eh?

Herd is high on Rodriguez. He was hard on Lloyd and his last years and rightfully so. He talked about App State, OSU losing streak, and 8-4 seasons. Was he lying? He is a supporter of RR based on his track record. I have been as well: but I am getting to the point where I want to hear about RR's Michigan track record and not his WVU track record.
