Cowboys stadium to host first CFB NCG in 2015?
Local radio (The Fan) says its a lock as wellI, as the only other competition is Tampa. I hope to see everyone there, cheering for the Wolverines! Plus It's a 10 minute drive for me, so I'll definitely be there /csb.
MOAR MONEY! I mentioned this in a tweet to @umhoops already - personally, I think holding basketball games in football arenas is stupid. The arenas are so big that they have to cover half of the seats because they're too far from the court! At some point, overkill becomes overkill.

I hear you but this is a football game that is being talked about.
Well then. Hooked on Phonics did not work for me, it appears. Oh well. Consider my previous comment a thread-hijacker instead. Wait, nevermind. That's just as bad.
I forgive you and I know you were waiting for random internet poster hvsiii to forgive you, so you are welcome.
Basketball was absolutely meant to be played here. The sightlines are amazing from everywhere.
In essence, you'll be paying hundreds of bucks to sit in the upper level seats and watch the game on the big screen since it's bigger than the actual freakin' court.
Anyway, congrats to Jerry Jones for landing the NCAA hoops regional finals and the 2015 football championship game. He surely needed to host these events to fill his depleted ego bucket.
MY GOD THAT THING IS BIGGER THAN THE COURT! Wow, I am shocked.
Really puts into persepctive the size of that bohemeth
The size of an NCAA basketball court is the same as the NBA, as many would know here, and this is 94 feet by 50 feet, or 4,700 square feet. One of the sideline displays at Cowboys Stadium is 160 feet by 72 feet, or 11,520 square feet. If it were possible to parcel it correctly, you could literally play 2 basketball games in that space and have some room to spare.
My seats are in the 300 section which means I will have to rely on screen watching even more than the bama game. I'm more confident that I will have occasions to cheer this time around. Really hoping for some redemption. Thus should be a great way to bookend our fiscal sports calendar in what the locals affectionately refer to as the death star.
would anybody else be a little nervous playing under that video board??
Idk man. I was at the final four at ford field and it was crazy. I know there was a local team involved and all but the final four usually fills up well doesn't it?
What's that? A major bowl game in the South? How unusual.
Let's see: JerryWorld, or a venue with god-awful video boards and speaker systems that made me want to cry during the Outback Bowl?
Yeah, no brainer.
I thought it was strange that only 2 bids were even placed. Seems like something every venue would want to at least put a bid in for, unless they already knew Jerryworld was a lock..
That's what a lot of reports said. I think it was a sort of mutual interest. Why I'm not sure. Other than $$$
Having gone to the Cowboys Classic, I really didn't like the gameday expereince. There are very few bars within walking distance of the stadium and those that are are Buffalo Wild Wings-type places in strip malls. Also I thought the screen was bothersome and made watching the play on the field difficult. That being said, it probably didn't help that we got our teeth kicked in.
I also went and I had a blast..until kickoff. It's an incredible building though, and that screen is crazy big. Howeva, with that being said, I would much rather watch them play at the Big House anyday over the overpriced Jerryworld.
Not exactly the shocker of the century, but I'm cool with that. Would like to see one on the Left Coast at some point.
San Diego put in a bid for the "other semifinal site," competing with Dallas (Cotton Bowl), Phoenix (Fiesta Bowl) and Atlanta (Chick-fil-A Bowl). The Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl have already been locked in as semifinal sites. It would be nice for us "left coasters" to have three driving distance sites (LA, SD and PHX) of the 6 rotating semifinal sites, but it appears as though SD is a longshot.
I know a lot of people get excited about the MNC but I'll always prefer a New Year's Day Rose Bowl to Jan 7th MegaBowl.
Old school til I die!
Anyone saying anything bad about Cowboy Stadium is dead wrong. The stadium is basically a mini city. I was there for the cowboy classic and the place is amazing.
I have nothing against the stadium itself. The team it hosts, on the other hand...
The area around it and atmosphere were not college football. The last game didn't help the atmosphere but I thought it lacked pre kickoff as well.
