Cowboys Classic Selling out

Submitted by bigmc6000 on
As of this morning both the $285 price level and the $175 price level are sold out and it hasn't even gotten to the point where the grads can get tickets yet... http://www.mgoblue.com/tickets/fbl-cowboys-classic.html Anyone have any thoughts on this one? I really wanted some $175's and was hoping they would stick around long enough that a UM grad friend of mine could get me a couple but now those are gone. Should I just bite the bullet and get the $125's or might there be some after-market deals that aren't *too* bad?

I'm going to be checking Stubhub soon. I don't think it'll be Sugar Bowl levels, and I bet they will be like tripled by Gameday, but hopefully some people have the 175 seats for like 200 or so

Edit: Just checked Stubhub.....holy shit.....lowest prices right now are $420 for upper level corner

Even though the Michigan tickets are close to being sold out, it will still be incredibly easy to get tickets to this game. If each team gets 25k, that leaves 50k for the general public, and I can't imagine those will sellout even before the game.

They will absolutely sell out. This isn't a bowl game where you get late notice and have to purchase last minute plane tickets during an already expensive time of the year to travel. There are months to plan this out and anticipation will be sky high after the off season and both teams coming off BCS bowl wins.

But I'm guessing the only ones that are going to be available are nose bleeds. If you look at UM's 25k and flip that to get 'Bama's the only ones left are the primo seats that are going to go for an insane price to the Cowboys season ticket holders and the high up ones.  I've talked to some friends who have gone and the 400 level seats aren't very good so I was hoping for something a little closer.

Why would they go down?  Did the UTL ticket prices go down?

Ticket prices go down when 1) the game doesn't sell out in the first place and/or 2) one fanbase is discouraged due to earlier losses.  Neither applies here.

I would recommend buying the tickets ASAP.

SPECIAL TWO-DAY PRE-SALE FOR TEXAS AAUM MEMBERS!

On Wednesday morning, February 1, the University of Michigan Alumni Association (AAUM) will send an email message to all alumni in Texas, and non-alumni living in Texas who are AAUM members, announcing a special two-day pre-sale of Cowboy Classic game-day packages.  This opportunity is a membership benefit for AAUM members, so alumni who are not members or have let their membership lapse should join the AAUM to take advantage of this offer.  To join the Association or renew a membership, please go the AAUM website at http://alumni.umich.edu/join/become-a-member.

what the hell is going on with the AAUM?   I never received an email to purchase tickets on 1 Feb. 2012    Fucking great!   I live in Dallas and will have to pay out the ass to go to the f-ing game.  FUCK!

Will Michigan host recruits for a game like this? It seems like a great recruiting tool and I’m curious if Michigan (and for that matter Bama) are allotted tickets for recruits. If so, does it count as an official visit because the school pays for their seats and whatnot? Obviously they wouldn’t be on campus so the expenses of plane tickets, a hotel, and everything else a paid official visit entails wouldn’t factor in, but the school buying out a section of seats for recruits (and their families) is still a decent amount of coin. If the school doesn’t purchase the seats, do they still get a reserved section for the recruits that can afford to pay their own way?

If you take a look at what the State of Michigan sports teams (both college/professional) have done over the past decade, we've offered fans a different/better way to watch games.

First, The "Cold War" Michigan vs State Hockey Game.

Then Red Wings vs Blackhawks play in the inaugural Winter Classic

Recently, State vs UNC in the Carrier Classic

and our own Wolverines playing at the Cowboy Classic.

No question that the State of Michigan has the best fans in the country! Its great to see owners and AD try to improve their image and increase coverage on a larger scale!

Is there a potential package for students to go with their families? I'm in the market for about 10-12 tickets for family and myself... However student tickets don't go on sale for another month+...

unless you are a rich member of the Victors Club

you can always try calling the ticket office.    I called the ticket office the last time UM played in the Rose Bowl and bought two tickets after everything was "sold out."  I explained my situation and the agent said he would see what he could do.   He really wanted to work with me because I was in the Middle East for a year and missed  the opportunity to purchase tickets.   In the end, he "found" two tickets on the 20 yard line for the Rose Bowl...lol
