Countdown to Kickoff (the segment, not the timer thing)

Submitted by kevin holt on

Does anyone know when MGoBlue.com's Countdown to Kickoff begins? I love watching that segment, and I look forward to it every day they have it. If my calculations are correct, it would start this Friday (if it's 30 days, I can't really remember). I haven't looked very thoroughly on their site, but maybe it says somewhere when it's starting.

At any rate, I'm pumped, and I can't wait to see some video evidence that we're improving (rather than all the text reassurances, which aren't quenching my thirst for this season quite enough as it approaches)

30 days prior to UCONN seems like a pretty good guess to me. although they may wait until practice begins so they have more to cover. we shall see.

IIRC, which I most likely don't, didn't they start out with a lot of player interviews last year?  If they did that, they could easily have 30 days of material, regardless of when practice started.

Again, I'm probably just lying to myself so that the countdown will start sooner...those segments were pretty awesome.

I don't really remember when they started last year or what they covered before practice started (if they began before practice). I'd assume something along the lines of "look new stadium! here's another tour!" and "Doug Karsch talking to several coaches and players (and looking generally handsome. sorry, mancrush, I'll keep it under control)" and "our players donate their time to Mott's because they're awesome"

The month of August is awesome because you start watching clips of the practice, and you start believin anyhting is possible. Sort of like the Spring game. Am I little nervous heading into the season? Absolutely...but I still hold on to the hope, that even though we have a new starting safety(or two) and Floyd at the one corner(even though I held my breath when he was in last year) that somehow we are better? I don;t know...it's just that in practice you might see a great hit or interception or the offesne clicking and you are like "Wow, this year it will be something to watch"

I will embarrasingly admit that I actually remember August of 08 when Threet and Sheridan were looking good in practice. I secretly thought to myself...maybe they will make the cover of SPorts Illustrated this year, because they are going to be awesome! Well, I know ti didnlt quite work out......oh...this is me hopelessly trying to express my desires. Sorry for the rant.

I probably enjoy the player interviews the most. I love getting to know the players and seeing the leaders of the team emerge. I almost don't want to know when it starts so I can watch all the videos the day before the UConn game. Who am I kidding?... I'm gonna watch them all again before the first game anyways. I hope they start ASAP.
