I was taking the kids around campus one day in June. We were about to go into the museum  in Schembechler Hall and he came strolling out. I introduced myself and my kids, and he looked my son right in the eyes and asked

"Are you ready for some defense, son?"

My son, with a great deal of excitement, stumbled over his words for a minute then answer with a louder-than-expected "YES SIR!"

He laughed, and replied "So am I, so am I. Great things are happening up here. Go Blue!"

My son had to call my wife at that moment and couldn't stop gushing.

Really like what he says about denard.  I mean I know he ain't going to say anything bad but it really sounds like he truley thinks he is going still be a special player even in this new offence

That's exactly what I was thinking. Is that him at about the 3:10 mark in the video, right after #93 (Chris Eddins?)? I had to replay that a few times because it looked like him, except he's huge. Hopefully he hasn't lost a step at all.

Such a great personality, so glad to have him at UM. Love how in depth he talks about getting a good kid, and making him even better.  It all starts on the DL. With Montgomery, Mattison, and Hoke as coaches I love the fact how these defenses will be geting better each year!

Just watching interviews with Hoke and Mattison you can really see why they are great recruiters.  They aren't really selling anything (or even trying to, seemingly), but their enthusiasm for the program and for coaching is infectious.

Man, I hope this guy has another decade of coaching left in him, becuase I think he is going to bring the pride back to Michigan.

I think having his family, particularly his granddaughter, in town will help with that a lot.

He's 61 now right, so I figure if he can wait to retire until he's 75, I'd find that acceptable.

Love this guy!
