I'm guessing that was one of the charity dinners, like maybe the banquet for the Griese/Hutchinson/Woodson golf outing? I would have pegged Charles for a red wine drinker though. haha

At the moment, it doesn't seem to be one of the sharing options available for the video, but yesterday, the Countdown To Kickoff video found its way to YouTube relatively quickly, so hopefully that is the case today as well. Disqus (which powers the current site, from the looks of things) is definitely different than Vimeo (which allowed easy embedding), which is what was used last year, I believe.

MSU's DB's are better than Michigan's and have been since Dantonio/Narduzzi arrival. The difference in mentality has allowed MSU to "bully" Michigan on the field for years now. It's time to develop a killer instinct and stop talking about inconsequential things like jersey numbers and ancient history.

MSU coaches do not allow their players to talk about anything except possible future defensive assignments and possible future audibles on offense. They're like programmed machines! I mean, the coaches don't even let the players go to class lest it screw up their football thought processes.

Actully, the inconsequential thing is your whining about Michigan traditions.  Let the players talk about what they want to talk about.  Some jersey numbers means something to the players, and your moaning about it won't change that - nor should it.

The "no fly zone"? Stupid names like that to try to give them an identity is better than a historical identity?

These kids on both teams are young and brash. They want to be known.

You don't understand that and just show your butt hurt in different ways.

They don't have the Legends history to talk about it. Instead Calhoun spent Big Ten media days talking about making up a name for his unit. He wants a swanky moniker to make them stick out. Similar to co-opting the term "no fly zone" in their secondary in previous years.

If you think they aren't concerned about notoriety or they are somehow more humble... just because they want notoriety for names and not numbers, you are not too bright.

I'm ok with the jersey number talk because he talks about earning it, which I definitely think he has. Once again, love seeing how involved our coaches are. Coach Mattison and Coach Manning were both right in there.

Michigan isn't the only team with a "living legends" jersey traditon. LSU's #18 immediately comes to mind and I'm sure that other teams have similar traditions. Every team retires #'s and I personally like the Legends program. It connects the new players with the great leaders of the past.

Stop HATIN' If the players are inspired by it, does it really matter what we think?

I think this argument overestimates the number of numbers that would become "legendary." There are countless superstars that have played in the maize and blue. There 's another level that is reserved for legends. I know we all think we'll win the next 5 Heisman trophies, but it's just not gonna happen.

But the other critique of the legends jerseys is that we seem to give them out too often. I don't really think we need to have all or even a majority of them issued each season. Just give out a couple to truly worthy players like Gallon and Kovacs who produced consistently. This is just my two cents and I'm sure plenty would disagree with me.

I agree wholeheartedly. My idea would be a legend jersey patch with the name and/or number on it. Possibly even a sticker for the helmet. But let the player keep his original number. Jordan Kovacs will always be 32 and not 11. And in the future I would have liked 32 to become its own legend patch for gifted walkons

I really don't want to do anything MSU does. We are a totally different program from them where history is important similar to Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio, or Oklahoma. Having names like Spartan dawgs or showing clips from movies like 300 seems really lame to me but it works out for MSU. Welcoming heisman winners back and having legends patches for past players works for us.
