Hate the damn Fox NFL music.
fair point that
Hate the damn Fox NFL music.
Will the next football game there be the Michigan-Bama game? (not counting pre-season games)
Gotta say, based on the general ineptitude of the RomoSapiens, these are the best two teams that will face off in Dallas for the whole of next year . . .
I hope the band is ready for a lot of TV time--and that Kansas State is ready to lose by 40.
The Sugar Bowl picked the better team
Arkansas wasn't eligible to be in the BCS since there were already 2 SEC teams picked.
They definitely would have torched the Michigan secondary. But their defense is not nearly as good as Virginia Tech's defense. So it would hopefully still have been a competitive game.
I'm looking forward to the Gus Johnson call
You're not married yet.
I have the sneaking suspicion that KSU doesn't quite show up for this one, but in any event, please let it be more competitive than the Orange Bowl.
Kansas State is going to show up for this one, Arkansas is just way better.
This is K-State's biggest game in a long time.
For a bowl that used to be really prestigious, this isn't the most glamorous matchup ever.
I'm kind of picturing the network execs - "You want me to sell advertising to what matchup again ? ? ? "
I would say 6 vs. 8 is a pretty nice matchup. I know you mean it's not name programs but just looking at the ranks makes it look like a BCS game. Hate to bring it up but both teams are higher ranked then Mich, VTech, WVU, or Clemson.
KSU wins in a close one.
Am I the only one who thinks that FOX does a much better job in terms of presentation than ESPN (sans the NFL music)?
Yeah, except I never got the point of that robot guy who they show when they come back from a commercial break
I agree. Robot sucks but I loved the entrances, bands, etc. They do a much better job of showing the atmosphere than ESPN, IMO.
Much better. Their HD is super crisp too.
OK so how many people did like me and took the over?
Look for the Cotton bowl to be a BCS game in the next year or two.
If they did that they would allow a 3rd SEC team I bet
Please, with how far up the SEC's ass the media is, I wouldn't be surprised if they changde the name of the NC to the SEC national championship
Look for the BCS to disappear in its current form in a couple of years. The old bowl tie-ins are going to reextend to every game except the title game. The AQ conferences don't want to deal with the headaches anymore.
I actually would like just having everything being bowls and the BCS standings only used for the title game
That's what is probably going to happen. There's no reason for the BCS to organize all of these games for the conferences when it opens the big conferences up to challenges from lower tier conferences when it can just organize a national title game instead.
...the first time in a few bowls there has been great play in the backfield from a team.
That being said, Arkansas tries to kamikaze its way to a first down and fails.
EDIT: Thus far, Arkansas DBs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Clemson DBs
Those slo-mo clips of yelling fans and dancing cheerleaders sure were purty.
I'm pulling for KSU, but Arkansas is just too good; better than Oklahoma, who wrecked KSU. Not saying that Arkansas will necessarily destroy KSU, but SEC tends to dominate of late.
We'd have destroyed KSU. Ark ought to, but I'd love to see them lose.
...and no score. It's almost like both teams are actually playing defense here.
May leave Ark at halftime for a better paying coaching job
Calling time out on 2nd and 28 seems like a poor idea.
K-State now facing 2nd and 33. Incredible!
I sense a draw play by KSU here...
EDIT: Sack. Fumble. Razorbacks ball. Awesome drive by KSU.
Is DD Jones, DaQuinta Jones? Is that what that guys name was? Or did that guy go to Texas Tech and Arkansas had Pearlie Graves. I can't remember
He is, in fact, DaQuinta Jones.
Geez, what's up with KSU actually playing defense?
Also, what's up with Arkansas going full up MANBALL? Aren't they more of a passing team?
This game is terrible. Only 3 points. Games are only good if each team has at least 14 in the first quater.
No, they're only good if one team has 40 and the other 3 at then end of the 1st.
This game has a high degree of MANBALL (lots of running and stiff D). Probably one of the most MANBALLish bowl games this season.
Edit: 2 minutes late :'(
Lots of defense being played on both sides - something is amiss among the bowl gods, I think.
EDIT: Just like that, 10-0 Arkansas. Rather poorly defended kick return goes for a TD. If nothing else, we're in the 2nd quarter before the first special teams gaffe - that's better than most bowls to date this season.
SEC Speed Strikessss Again!!!
blocks in the back on the return.
....which conference the crew is from. Some conferences apparently don't believe in such calls.
they called a horrible block in the back on the k-state punt return just before that one
Joe Adams likes punt TDs.
He also like it when his team gets away with some very borderline blocks in the back.
Just stack the box and laugh.
Kind of like VT did against us?
