Cotton Bowl Open Thread

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

For those interested, the Cotton Bowl just started on FOX (Channel 2 in SE Michigan). Texas A&M (10-2) versus Oklahoma (10-2), and Johnny Manziel just went Johnny Football on the Sooners for a TD if the call on the field is not overturned...

The first drive for the Aggies included two rushes of 24 and 23 yards from Manziel, as well as 25 yards of rushing from Ben Malena. Kevin Sumlin has a warp-capable offense in the SEC.

I joined the game late, and don't follow OU football much.  Is Landry Jones injured?  Saw he was on the bench with OU at the goal line.

It makes me wish Denard would have learned to have that presence in the pocket and whirl around and avoid rushers with his great athletic ability, without panicking like he did so often before throwing an INT.

Am I being too harsh or truthful here?

Just looked at Oklahoma's results this year. They have given up a shit ton of points. 49 to WVU, 48 to Ok St and 34 to Baylor. Going to be a high scoring game tonight.

In the regular season, Oklahoma averaged 506  yards of offense per game, and Texas A&M averaged 552 yards of offense. Both teams also gave up almost  400 average yards on defense per game during the season, so the likelihood of this being a game where teams score almost at will is pretty darn high. The interesting thing is that, for both teams, those are middle-of-the-road defenses in their respective conferences.

Worse, I say this just as Oklahoma settles for three on another Sisyphean effort to get a touchdown. Stoops is apparently coaching an existential game.

Under Armor Game? I wish they would have high school coaches coach that game instead of washed out guys like Mariucci and Edwards, who are more interested in self-promotion as opposed to coaching the game.

when he was a JR in HS when he played with Tate, I thought he was pretty impressive back then, I haven't been following him that closely in college, but his 6.2 YDC on only 83 carries indicates to me he should get more carries.
