I've heard from more than one place that Loefler is a likely OC candidate regardledd of whether we hire Hoke or Miles

Anyone want to give a rundown on their two coordinators and their pluses and minues. One would guess they're the most likely characters.

can we hire hoke as a DC and maybe have him be our "coach in waiting" when miles decides to retire

Second dumbest comment ever.

comes in as qb's coach.....

Here, there is such a thing as a dumb question.
Sorry

Hoke is too old to be a coach in waiting. You want a younger guy who can earn good experience and will be prime to take the team over when he is about 40 years old, not 60.

Loeffler, Loeffler, Loeffler and more Loeffler. He has the potential to be a real amazing offensive coordinator and he has a lot of support at U of M. He is also probably the coach in waiting.
There is also a very real possibility that Trgovac would be the d coordinator but my guess is that is more likely with Hoke than Miles.

I thought JoePa was coach in waiting? I heard that on some other board.

Pro-style OC coaching Denard? Why, for the love of Stalin?
January 9th, 2011 at 5:44 PM ^
Didn't he work at Florida and tebow?? Maybe he can work some spread.....
January 9th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
Loeffler is a "mechanics" guru. Former players rave about what he has done for their throwing motion, as well as their ability to read defenses. This is EXACTLY what Denard needs - regardless of what scheme we run, Denard's mechanics need a ton of improvement. He will still be able to run - hell, Loeffler worked with Tebow and he ran his fair share.
This would be a huge get.
Can Loeffler recruit well?

I think I'm just going to wait until we ACTUALLY hire someone before I divulge my thoughts and feelings on coordinators. Waiting for a head coach is exhausting enough.

So that's why my eye twitches, I thought it may have been from the large amounts of alcohol consumed within the past week.

Eat a banana.

As long as they can effectivley use Denard as QB, then I'm happy with whoever.
January 9th, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
Keep an eye on Tyrone Wheatley as a guy who might want to come back at some point as well. He's done a pretty decent job as RB coach at Cuse, and would be a great advocate for the school.
January 9th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
I love Wheatley. Possible heir apparent to Mr. Jackson if/when he retires?
January 9th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
I don't know about coordinators, but Miles should have good position coaches with him.
January 9th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
John Chavis is a very good coach. If it was Miles, I hope he could bring Chavis with him. Not sure I would want Crowton to come with him though, that guy hasn't impressed me one bit.
January 9th, 2011 at 5:33 PM ^
I would Chavis but hell no Crowton.
January 9th, 2011 at 5:35 PM ^
I think Crowton gets a bad rap. LSU has been dominant defensively and has not had consistent QB play the last several years...wouldn't you be conservative and run the ball a lot too!
For what its worth his offenses run multiple sets including the option and zone read which would be perfect for Denard and D. Gardner.

IF Les is hired in the next couple of days I believe the most important person he should bring with him his Frank Wilson his recruiting coordinator. Been reading up on this guy he is a recruiting ninja. In conjunction with Loeffler the 2012 class could be a magical one. I don't know about the rest of you but I am not use to seeing Michigan being ranked in the 30's on recruiting class rankings. Its time to get into the top 10 again.

Now that Rodriguez is gone, does that mean recruiting rankings matter again?
