THAT'S the kind of guy you want to see representing the football team with dignity, class, grace and a work ethic that goes beyond the football field.  I hope his impact on this team is felt for years to come.

Washington has gone from a player who could hardly speak publicly, to one of the more insightful, quote-worthy players on the team -- as Michigan's sports information department routinely made Washington available to reporters this season.

As I recall, sometime last year perhaps, there was a very moving, lenghtier article about Washington's struggles and his work to overcome them. His story really is one of the more pronounced achievements of this revamped culture around Michigan football and Michigan athletics in general. To end his career at Michigan with an MS in social work, a leadership role on the football team and hopefully with a bowl win seems maeks for a successful story.

I was at the bust last night and could remember reading an article about his speech problem at some point before the season started.  Found this article when trying to explain to my table why he got a standing O: http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20121217/PC16/121219440/1032/timberland-s-quinton-washington-finds-success-in-speech-therapy-football-at-michigan

Little more informative article from a newspaper in his hometown I believe.

that I wish we had for another year.  Alas its not to be.  My daughter has some speech issues and they can be overcome but it takes a LOT of work.  So I'm very very pleased the University has another side than just what we see at Stadium and Main.

I think Hoke preaches that the average NFL career is only 3 years...so getting the degree is a way to prepare for life after football.  I hope Q can get some NFL time and go on to be successful from there.
