Cool Mud Bowl Video

Submitted by umhero on

ATTENTION: This link is to a Bleacher Report article.  I am aware of the problem with that source, but this is content they created so it's unavailable anywhere else.  It's a very cool 4 minute video featuring SAE take on Phi Psi in the 2013 Mud Bowl.  Mods please delete this if it's a problem.

One of the greatest college traditions happens in Ann Arbor, Mich., every fall.

For 80 years, the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of Michigan have taken to the front of their fraternity house to challenge others in the Greek system to a game of football, stripped of rules and fueled by adrenaline.

While it's one of the greatest games to watch in Michigan every year and takes place outside of "The Big House," the event is also an opportunity for the Greek community to give back. Currently, the Mud Bowl is a charity event to benefit the Charles Woodson Clinical Research Fund at Mott Children's Hospital.

The 10,000 foot view of the rule is "yes, we are", BUT....and there is a but....some (by this, I mean a few) of their writers do produce content which is reasonably inoffensive and those things do tend to stand on the board. Another typical exception is when they simply post a video with some short writeup - these usually stay because it is difficult for them to be problematic, rather like what the OP posted. The exception exists, but it is monitored.

They're still a pretty awful company. 99% of the time if you see it on BR it's been stolen from somewhere else. ALWAYS check to see if you can find the same article or video elsewhere first. They don't attribute so it takes a little googling, but not that much.

They are not a member of the InterFraternity Council, having been kicked out due to hazing a couple years ago, but their national body put them on probation rather than disband the chapter. So... they exist as an SAE fraternity, but not as a full fledged Michigan IFC member.

Dammit. I wish I knew it was my fraternity playing; I would have been there (not that I know a single person in Phi Psi now, and if they're competing in the Mud Bowl they're probably nothing like the collection of stoner-intellectual-comedians I joined, but still: dammit).
