Considering buying season tickets

Submitted by Rodriguesqe on

Edit: umbig11 gave me a contact from the ticket department who gave me a good response already. I added it in the thread but figured it would have more utility at the top if anyone else is interested in getting tickets.

Hello [REDACTED],

Thanks for reaching out and for your interest in season tickets.  The following webpage has most of the information: http://support.mgoblue.com/donor-experiences/ticketing/.

The process is pretty much as follows:
  • Make the interest list donation at the above webpage prior to April 30th
  • Every person that has made the interest donation the last three years has been able to get season tickets.  So while it is not necessarily a guarantee, we have been able to offer everyone making the donation for the last few years and really do our best to be able to continue to do so.
  • In May, the ticket office will reach out to you regarding the details of the season tickets.
  • The pricing for the season ticket is $455 per ticket, which does equate to an average of $65 per ticket.
  • So to your question about $1,060, you are correct:
    • $150 Interest List Donation
    • 2 season tickets at $455 each
    • Total of $1,060
  • Donors making gifts of $500 or more have the ability to purchase 4 season tickets.
Hope that helps but if there is anything else I can provide, please let me know and I am happy to assist any way I can.

Have a great holiday season and Go Blue!

My sense is that with the AD offering season ticket packs to anyone who bought a 3 game package last summer they are looking for pretty much anyone who will commit to the season tix. Brandon's focus on families attending one game a year at the expense of the season ticket holders (like myself) disenfranchised a large segment of the base. I think even with a Harbaugh hire it will be difficult to get back to 2007 levels and the waiting list etc.

If Harbaugh is retained you want season ticket packs only b/c the cost on Sparty/tOSU etc. will be truly ridiculous. I don't think it will be hard to get back in though.

Sorry just the fact that people are going to come crawling back irritates me. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't pay for a product that I didn't like either. However, that's the risk one takes when giving up that privilege to have season tickets. If you want to keep them you stick around for the good and the bad. Personally, I can't afford them to begin with...but if I did I don't think that I would have the right to jump the line had I given them up.

That's not how it works. You have to be on the buy "list" by having donated the minimum to the A Dept by a certain date. If you do that, the when season tickets are up for purchase in the spring the A Dept will look at the priority points of all the folks on that list and then offer season tickets based on points. The last couple years as long as you got on that list you got season tickets. I would expect the same to be true this year ... But if Harbaugh comes who knows, especially given the much better home schedule next year.

What Michigan did with the reported offer to JH is say we are going only after the best (ie. not Doug Marrone) and will pay $$$.  I would buy in, trusting that the talent we've read about on Scout and 24/7 is really there, and a fully competent coaching staff is on the way, regardless of who the next HC is.

1) Tickets are at the same price this year ($65). You will pay $910 for the pair. The minimum PSD is $150 for two tickets in the end zone.

2) There will be season tickets available for purchase. If you donate around $500 you are pretty much guaranteed a shot at season tickets.

3) You will have to wait for a specific date. As renewals will start first and then be opened up to the public at a later date for new season tickets holders.

4) The limit is supposed to be 8 tickets. However, I have gained more tickets over the years due to the addition of the Club seating and I have a combination of club and bowl seating. You will have a great shot at a lower number like 2 or 4.

Here is Adam Dunn's email address. He is a rep in the Athletic Development office. He will guide you. [email protected]

Good luck!

Can you explain the $500=guarenteed point? Is that because the 5 priority points should guarantee you tickets (so being an alum, with the 20 pts, would also guarantee tickets?)? Or is there something special about the initial donation besides priority points?

The $500 puts you in a better position. There is a tier for prior Letter winners, Alumni, and charter Victors Club members, and then the average first time buyer which will likely try to pay the minimum PSD of $75 per seat. As you you know, each $100 = 1 point. I will will look up the tiers and post them if I have time.

Found it: 40 points Letter winner; 20 ponits Alumni; 1 point every $100 donnated to MMB, ticket loyalty each yr. athletic donations. So, basically the $500 (5 points) gets you a head start and slightly higher on the scale.

Thanks, already got a response from Mr. Dunn. He was Schembechlereque in his response. Sharing with the rest of the MGoComunnity:

Since you  are making an economic case, the details matter ...

1) Are season tickets really 65$/game or is there some loophole I missed. Actually I believe the tickets are $75 per game with some games "premium" going for $95 each face value (like ND for UTL)

2) Are tickets available? Donating 150$ to the program isn't the end of the world to me, but if I do it I'd like to actually buy tickets. Yes, I could be wrong, but the last few years eroded away the waiting list. Now, this doesn't mean the available slots are great but there is always some turnover. What will be interesting to see as a barometer is if the box suites turn over - originally they did not sell out but was also during the nadir of the recession, but the first of these box leases are coming up - if we don't get Harbaugh and especially if we end up with an unpopular choice, we might see fewer renewals. I know this may not affect most of the everyday fans here but it might be a harbinger of things to come.

3) Once I donate can I buy right away or do I have to wait for some date? I believe you can donate and go - there is no waiting period.

4) Am I limmitted to 2 tickets with the 150$ donation? - I believe the PSD or personal seat donation is by the seat - and location - the better seats - e.g. Club and chairbacked cost more as do the better locations. I don't know for certain but I can't see the A Dept stopping this even though it is among (many) of the less popular things started on the prior AD regieme.

Hope this helps and Go Blue!

If you buy season tickets, they are all $65/game if I'm not mistaken. The surcharge is if you buy them individually. (There is of course the PSD though which bumps up the per-game cost a bunch.)

As someone who sponges tickets off another (literally), I would say your price structure is about right.  I think the $150.00 gives you the right to buy tickets (if available).  Right now I'm guessing they are available.  That might change quickly, but I also think there are a lot of openings right now.  If you think "It's happening" I would pull the trigger.  I don't see the prices going up.

PSD is a yearly investment and by seat for 2, you'll shell out $300 a year plus the cost of the tickets.  If you want to get around the end zone it's $200 a seat and the 50 yard line is around 500 a seat.

I don't think the donation is a guarantee that you'll have the ability to purchase tickets.  Call the athletic office and they will let you know for sure.

The PSL varies depending on where you want sit.  The closer to the 50 you get, the higher it is.  Average ticket price is $65 a game, although Michigan has staggered pricing.  Higher profile games face for higher dollar amount than the tomato can games.
