Just like Dawson, the ship isn't completely submerged. He's visiting December 14th, same day as Dawson.

Good to hear, I'm still hoping Conley stays in this class.
USING GRATUITOUS AMOUNTS OF CAPS LOCK SINCE APRIL 2011

Don't know the specifics of the Mattison and Conley meeting, but whatever it was, I am sure Conley's view of M football was enhanced. Who wouldn't want to play for Mattison.

...confidence is the stain they can't wipe off...
It's actually a playcall. Tackle-Inside-Tackle-Stunt. or T.I.T.S.
As opposed to the more popular tackle-end stunts
"Over? Did you say, over? Nothing is over until we decide it is!"
If I had a choice between Tackle-Inside-Tackle-Stunt or Tackle-End-Stunt-Tackle-End-Stunt, I know what I'm picking.

I prefer the Bust-Inside-Gap Alernating-Safety-Stunt myself.

"Ohio is like a giant turd that Michigan just can't pinch off"
That's Mattison's Push-Up-Middle-Pressure Inside-Technique. Sometimes they just call it the sweet release.
That, or he thinks the refs made a bad call.
That's the Feed the Geese play. Looks like this one is supposed to go to the right.
We need the other Mattison GIF where it looks like he firing a rifle to complete the pair. I tried to find it once recently, but failed. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help and post here.
"This is Michigan fergodsakes."
In the replay of the ohio game I noticed him signalling, I think, with two fingers to the roof of his mouth, like a gag or a denture adjustment. What might that mean?
One thing that I have gathered from all this is that I do not understand recruiting.
I know this has been kicked around the board quite a bit lately, but I'm confused as to the adoption of the "Texas" rule. For several years, Mack Brown has been rigid about his no-visits rule. If a recruit commits and then takes a visit, he's out, period. Hoke seems to be going with a modified Texas rule, to the point where I don't see how it's a rule at all. Rather, it seems a kid can commit to Michigan, take a visit and merely spend time in a dog house (Dawson) or suffer no consequences at all (Conley).
At this point, I would have to say I'm not for or against a "rule", but if he's going to have one, Hoke should stick to it, or not have one at all.
WRT Dawson and Conley, they both seem like good kids. Why handcuff or cause angst or bad feelings with a good kid?
A basic explanation of what I think the policy is:
A kid commits to Michigan. (Hooray!) Said kid wants to take other visits for whatever reason. He has options, but first:
1. If you visit you will no longer be considered committed. As in the coaches won't keep a spot for you. If someone else committs, you're SOL
Then I think it depends on HOW the kid goes about his other visits.
2a. Talk to the coaches. Explain that you might want to see what other schools have to offer. The coaches will explain #1. If you still want to take visits and understand that you won't have a spot. Go visit. - This is what Conley did. While he decommitted, the coaches probably told him "we aren't saving you a spot, but we'd still like you on the team. Take your visits and get back to us. If we have room, you're welcome to recommitt".
2b. Don't talk to the coaches (Pharoah Brown). Burn your bridge and they're done recruiting you. Sorry champ.
Dawson seems like he fell somewhere between a and b, but he's obviously been communicative enough with the coaches that they are continuing to recruit him.
"Over? Did you say, over? Nothing is over until we decide it is!"
I think you're over complicating it (it's really not complicated, not sure why so many people are confused).
I think Brian nailed it in the latest UV. You're either
"COMMITTED: Keep out of trouble and keep your grades up and you will be in the class. We will stand by you if you have a bad year or get injured. You do not take visits to other schools. If you do, they automatically move you into the other category.
UNCOMMITTED: If you have an offer they'll continue to recruit you but they can revoke that offer at any time until they move you into the other category by mutual agreement. If your leg explodes tough cookies."
Once you get back into UNCOMMITTED, getting your offer pulled is just something that can happen as part of being in that category, same as anyone who hasn't ever committed. Whether it's your spot getting taken or because the coaches don't like you anymore because you tried to pull a fast one doesn't matter. Also, just like anyone who hasn't ever committed, if you get your offer pulled, it doesn't mean you can't get it back if another spot opens up or you mend fences with the coaches.
I don't think a coach ever publically said what the exact rule is. Second, I've been under the impression that the "rule" isn't you visit somewhere else and you're gone, but rather, visit elsewhere and the coaches reserve the right to keep recruiting others at your spot.

What is so hard to understand? For every player that gets a scholarship, there were another 100 who wanted that spot, knocking on the door. And that its hard to fully evaluate players who are 17 years old, they'll likely have a short list at each position, with their preferable order. So, if a player is visiting other schools, we'll visit the others on the list, as there isn't much of a discernable difference. Now, when you have an uber-elite recruit, they are obviously given a little more leeway, as they should. Hoke plays this exactly how it should be.
This is why Urbs, and everyone else Mattison has worked with say he is one of the best recruiters around.

Is Dee Hart visiting December 14th. Recruiting, never a dull moment

yes, as well as yuri wright and stefon diggs. where have you been?
It's been a lot. Its been a roller coaster that for some reason seemed like it would never get good. But you know what? We kept fighting. It's like that old saying goes, "Those Who Stay Will Be Champions." -David Molk
I think Alex Kozan is taking a break from his vision quest and joining as well.
“When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing” - Bo Schembechler
Is there a significance to December 14th? Why are all the commits/recruits visiting on that day in particular?
They wanted to take their officials together and I guess they all decided on that day.
Greetings from Bolivia.

Maybe a couple kids who know each other but seems like it'd be an uncomfortable visit for the 4/5 OL recruits coming in and looking at the same spot.
Well, it's a weekend (well, a Friday) after their seasons are over and before the holidays start. There are only so many weekends between now and signing day that don't interfere with Christmas and New Years. Plus, time is of the essence for some of these spots.
It's exactly 1 week before the Mayan doomsday prophecy..so they want to get in before shit hits the fan.
This is why you can't get too bent out of shape when dealing with recruits.
Am I the only one that wants this kid to pick a damn school and just commit already? Yes, he's between Ohio Steate, Michigan and others but please Conley for the sake of a fanbase just do it. MgoBlog and Elevenwarriors has been flooded with forum topics about this player commiting, decommiting and now visiting Michigan...
I'll step off my soap box now.

Yeah - how dare he not take our feelings into account. Conley - this decision is not so much about your future, but about what we adults talk about on blogs, so hurry this shit up, please.
quit actin' like a high school kid Fergodsakes!

17 year old would just get tired of listening to 2 major coaching staffs praising him and thousands of fans clamoring for your choice. Just call Brady or Urb to tell them "I'm tired of your attention." /s

very similar to a year ago with Brionte Dunn. But this one is going to end up with the good guys
GRwolverine73
Rivals has him listed as a CB in the recruiting class. I'm assuming that he'll play that position wherever he ends up. Is there a deficiency for Michigan at this position with anyone graduating or does UM plan on using him at a different position? This is assuming he picks UM...
Hello Charles Woodson, now give me the ball on offense. - Brent Musburger
There seems to be some chance that he'd play WR at Michigan. Michigan needs help at that position more than they do at CB, IMO, though I'd be happy to have Conley play either as long as he's a Wolverine.
It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future. -- Yogi Berra
That will be a pretty huge visit day. If we don't get a hello post (or at least Hello (again)) I'd be very surprised. At the least, we should have our fifth OL after that weekend.
