Congratulations to msu

Submitted by UMxWolverines on

As much as I hate it, Dantonio is an incredible coach. 2 conference titles in the last 4 years, a 12 win season this year. Sparty No is dead. The Spartans are not going away.

Dantonio and Urban will be equally as hard to defeat for the near future.

Thank you for shutting up osu, though.

The games against MSU when I was a kid were some of the best I remember.  Both fan bases hated each other and there were some classic games.  But I am ultimately a fan of football and a good MSU is good for the big ten and good for us.  Dantonio has always been a good coach.  When he was DC for Tressel they were the best defense in the Big Ten and frankly he has made them an amazing program.

I look forward to what this rivalry will be going forward.  We will be back and this will be great again for both teams.  But let's just appreciate a great game and honestly a really great team.  MSU came out, and took it to the Buckeyes.  They used a ton of the plays and misdirections we had used and abused the Buckeyes with it.  They played an outstanding game, and I'm glad they are repping our conference in the Rose Bowl.

This reminds me of basketball when we lost to MSU by 50 pts and they were pouring it on - literally embarassing us.  Now you have people at MSU looking at U of M basketball worried about what we are becoming.   These things go in cycles as long as you stick the course and commit to the right philosophy.

Cheer them on - they aren't playing michigan again this year, they don't compete with us for recruits, and they just beat OSU which is a far bigger threat.  They have also become both a damn good team and a damn good yard stick to go after and achieve against.  Congrats to them and hopefully we can build something that special soon.

Really wish we could upvote. I'm one of the thousands of lurkers Brian referenced this week, and it appears to me that this thread is otherwise filled with those his post was addressing.

Good for MSU. M had a down year, but I'm much happier to see the Spartans win this game than the alternative. Go Blue!!!

Coaching matters.  We recruit better and they develop better.  If Brandon can't see that clearly then F us all. It is total BS to be on the outside looking in here.

they have 15, 5th year seniors.. we have more freshman playing this year than ever in michigan history do the math..  Are these kids suppose to be superstars as Fr, RSfr, or soph?  No..

The upper classmen are kids recruited mostly by RR and very few of them had any talent at all..

Dantonio has proven he can do it with all experience levels. In 2011, his only senior starter was Kevin Pickelman (?). Three true freshmen; three second-year players; three third-year players. Pretty darn young.

I remember when Greg Jones, Eric Gordon, Marcus Hyde, and Chris Rucker all graduated after 2010, we all thought MSU's defense would come back to earth. Fact is, it was just getting ramped up. There is no reason to believe Dantonio won't just keep reloading.

Agreed.  Including Dave Brandon.

I am not in denial.  I know Dave Brandon is bad at his job.  He had ONE JOB to do and that was hire the BEST COACH IN THE COUNTRY who wanted to come here.  And he failed.  What is Dave Brandon going to do about it?  Nothing.

Giving up?  I am NOT giving up!  On the contrary.  I truly hope that we can climb back to where I feel we belong!  And I truly believe I know how it is done....coaching.  This is college football.  Good coaching.  We don't have it now and have not had it for a while.  A "pansy" like me knows this.  A person that calls other people pansies should too.  #footballIQ  I feel it is not pansy-like to see what is wrong with a progam and fix it.  It is NOT going to get better when the trend is down and you don't change anything.  Coaching.  Start with coaching.  Because, it is college football and it is about COACHING.

I am not ashamed.  I am a proud Michigan Alum who sees people destroying his passion.  I never give up.  I will continue to do whatever I can, however little it may seem in the big picture, to educate all those who are blind to what is going on.  Good coaching.  We don't have it.  Learn  this please.  Look at this objectively instead of calling people names that indicate a low level of intelligence like "pansy".  Use your energy for hope not hate.

Congratulations to MSU. To those of you saying delete thread, eff MSU, etc...Grow up a little and/or learn to show some class. Ohio losing this game was best case scenario. One of our rivals was going to win. Personally, I'm happy it was MSU. Put your pride aside, show some class, and offer your congratulations. Some of you people make me sick with how you represent the Michigan fanbase.

The sadness of Buckeye fans everywhere is something you should be loving at this very moment. Drink it in, it always goes down smooth.

How is it being an insufferable asshole to never root for your rival. You guys think it makes us assholes to not have a thread on here blowing Ohio State and wishing them good look against FSU if they won? You guys do not know how sports work. This is embarassing.

MSU is the lesser of two evils. The fact is they beat our archrival and kept them out of the MNC game. We probably wouldn't have a "Congrats Ohio" thread because we really hate them. State isn't on the same level.

Feel free to disagree, but you must be able to see the point, no?

You got it done, Michigan State.  There is zero substitution for rightful victory.  Do or do not there is no try.  You are winners, Michigan State University.  Enjoy your place in the sun.  For now.

I don't care if I get banned, but this thread is stupid. Why celebrate an asshole coach and team just because they beat OSU?

My favorite part about these last few weeks: Alabama will destroy Ohio in the post season...and it wont be for a national championship (sugar bowl?)
