Mgoblue.com item says he's the "17th Wolverine alumnus to win the Stanley Cup." Congrats to him.

EDIT: The mgoblue.com item is slightly misleading. This is the 17th time a Wolverine alumnus has won the Stanley Cup, but Kampfer is the 8th Wolverine to do so.

Here's the list from U-M's Wolverines in the NHL document:

I was rather disappointed to be the only one at Charley's yelling "KAMPFERS HOLDING THE CUP, KAMPFERS HOLDING THE CUP!" Come on fellow students, show some enthusiasm for a Michigan alum.

When I saw him lifting the Cup, I was ecstatic. I guess I was used to seeing Matt Hunwick in a Bruins jersey on a consistent basis before he got shipped off to Colorado during the season. If not for the trade, we'd have two Michigan men lifting Lord Stanley's Cup.

It's too bad he won't have his name on the cup. Only played 38 regular season games and you need 41 (and or a Stanley cup finals appearance). Nice to see him win one after all he's been through.

Exceptions can be made for players that don't qualify due to injuries or other circumstances. With Kampfer being so close and sidelined by injury (who knows if he would've played anyways) I could see his name being added to the cup.

Really happy for Kampfs. It's a bummer he got hurt. He made some valuable contributions to the team during the season, and they definitely would not have been where they were without him.  He was on the Black Aces during the playoffs. I don't know whether he was the next defenseman in or not considering that he was a rookie. Shane Hnidy stepped up when Kampfs and Quaider were hurt. The Bruins did put faith in a couple of their rookies (Seguin, Marchmont) during the playoffs, so we don't know. Kampfs was an active member of the team though and will be for years to come:

I grew up with Kampfer and played hockey with him as a kid.  It's crazy now to see him hold up the cup.  Great guy though, congrats to him...

Chiarelli just said that he thinks Savard and Kampfer are deserving of having their names on the cup and he's going to try and get their names on. Would be great news for our guy.
