Congrats Michigan

Congrats on the win. Great game. Awesome that this rivalry is relevant now. In football and basketball. Next few years are going to be absolutely great.

Enjoy Paul Bunyan (only for a year ;) ).

See y'all February 12th. I'm excited already.

But I think your post would have worked better with a comma after "now", rather than a period. It makes the first sentence look like this game made it relevant, where a comma makes it sound like the rivalry is relevant in all sports now, which it is.

But tonight you probably would have gotten shit on anyway.

about this so-called "rivalry" except a hand-full of Michigan die-hards and the entire sparty nation.  Other than that, no one cares about moo u.  This game gets trumped by Wiskey and Minny for ABC.

Now I will say the best staee player was the punter.  His punts were high and he pulled off the fake punt very well.

Yes, the OP has been a reasonable contributor and there is no reason he won't be in the future but to call the Winter Blue's remark assinine is an overreaction.  You could not surmise that the OP was not referring to today's game as being the defining moment of "relevant" whether he meant it or not.  You're comment is out of place and unnecesary.  If you truly believe it was assinine you have stooped to his level.

The rest of your comments aren't at issue. I just thought that the original remark made - which I labeled "assinine" - was pretty dickish. The Spartan dude didn't seem like he meant any harm, and to basically get told to go @#$% himself seemed way out of line.

Relevant now? Why was the game on BTN then?

Anyways. Paul is here to stay. For many moons.

As for basketball season, Michigan is now a machine. They are at the point to where they aren't rebuilding, they are reloading. I'm salivating at the depth on this team. Should be fun.

Noticed you didn't bring up hockey playing in three weeks. Not surprised given what's transpired recently.

I said nothing about the Final Four. I said the program is a machine and is reolading with great talent. (Exit: Darius Morris, Enter: Trey Burke)

Plus a B1G Championship, being featured on college gameday and having a ton of nationally televised games this season speaks volumes that this program isn't ON it's way back. It's back.

I don't know why Spartan fans are looking forward to basketball season when I look at what Michigan is bringing and State isn't.

(I know the Big 10 and the basketball rivalry will be fierce.)

Sam Webb, a very pro UM radio personallity, treats MSU like Valenti treats UM. The point is that fans on the radio are still fans. Valenti is very even handed and rational at most sports, except college athletics, where his fandom comes out. I won't hold that against him, as pro UM fans would do the same thing

This rivalry will cease to be relevant now that you've returned to your historic norm.

If you show up to congratulate us with a subtle dig, what do you expect us to say? You're 4-4, 1-3 in the B1G, and not even certain for a bowl. You can talk about our rivalry being relevant when you are a good team, K?

A vanquished opponent came to offer his congratulations and take his lumps. This takes the kind of cojones few would offer. As for the "relevant" part, he wasn't talking about Michigan being relevant. He's saying that the game more important than it has been in decades past.

Good on ya, Sparty. See ya next year.

Hey, he could have posted the same in any number of threads about the game.  Instead he started a new thread... with provocative wording.  I can understand why people might view his post as trolling, and respond accordingly.

It takes internet cojones...What are those worth?  For the record I have the biggest "cojones" because I'm calling a respected mod out.  Yes, "He's saying that the game [is] more imporant than it has been in decades past" but that clarification was made after the original statement and you can't assume that based on the original post.

Yeah, this game means way more to lil brother than it does to THE University of Michigan.  lil brother, you may now return to your regularly scheduled mediocre 5-7, 6-6 seasons.  YOUR national championship run has ended...LOL!

I think that he meant that now that both teams are solid at the same time, and either team is capable of winning the game, the rilvary is relavant again.

I agree with that.  MSU ain't going away.  As long as they are in our division, they will be a key game each year.  No, they won't go on any more streaks of 4 in a row while we are sleep walking, but they will not be the Sparty of old either.

Like I wrote, I understand the point he was trying to make. It was probably the punctuation error (?) in his statement that made the word "relevant" seem like a left-handed (or even off-putting) remark.

Like many have posted on this site in the past "Kill Grandma" =/= "Kill, Grandma". Punctuation saves lives.

seem to grassp the fact that you have to have player that can make plays.  Dantonio cant recurit and dispite what the rcmb says, they do NOT recruit nationally.  Check the facts.

I know that 2 and 3 star players can be coached up.  But Dantonio has proven himself to be just an average coach.  He cant wave a magic wand and get a team full of 5 star players.

The wonderful thing about data is that history is the best teacher and the data always regresses toward the mean.  As long as sparty continues to recruit 2 and 3 star players, they will fall back into mediocracy.
