yes plz
Congrats Jonas!
Greg Mattison has turned Mouton into the next Ray Lewis by proxy.
Become a starter and give me an excuse to buy some Bolts gear. Glad you're headed back to Cali, but you always have a home here
I'm surprised. It seems, through the years, a lot more productive/consistent Michigan LBs have gone later.
I think he was probably a better player than Greg Robinson made him look
"Ohio is like a giant turd that Michigan just can't pinch off"
"I think we go with Mouton."
"Wasn't he not very productive in college?"
"Did you see the sceheme they ran last year? It was centered around a stuffed animal. They lined up the middle linebacker in the space the nose tackle is supposed to fart into. That was historically bad."
"Ummm."
"This was his coach the last two years."
*GERG*
"Is that a hair model?"
All of the smack talk about who he got picked over is irrelevent. This is the lifelong dream of many young men in America and it just came true for him. No more having to worry about classes or papers unless he still is pursuing a degree. It is all about being a professional and doing what is asked of him. I have never been to the West Coast but like most of you, I guess that he will enjoy his new environment. I have no beef with San Diego since I am a Cowboy fan. The two clubs actually scrimmage one another during camp. I will, with a clear conscience, root for Jonas to tear the AFC up....just take it easy on Mr. Brady!
Hard work beats talent...when talent fails to work hard! Go Blue!!
Congrats Jonas! Major props for sticking through the transition and not complaining. Tear it up.
It is possible, possible, that teams contacted Robinson to get the low down on Mouton, given his NFL background, and that Robinson's opinion was a contributing factor in getting Mouton drafted so high.
I admit it's possible, but there's no way they used it as a deciding factor for their decision. They might take his word that he's a great character guy or practices hard or whatever, but I don't think they're going to use him as a talent evaluator.
Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal has great contacts with scouts and puts out a very good draft guide every year. He had Mouton ranked the #10 OLB with the following evaluation:
Probably the best player on the nation's 110th-ranked defense. "I haven't seen a guy all year that was this fluid in his (pass) drops," one scout said. "This guy plays athletic, instinctively, tough. Then I get to the combine and no one could believe what he ran. But the time doesn't matter. People are going to see the same thing." Ran even slower at pro day three weeks later, a sign of questionable work habits. "He's a little moody," one scout said. "He needs a strong-handed coach. He's got to learn how to be a pro." Might fit best on the weak side in a 4-3. Finished with 264 tackles (18 for loss), three sacks and eight "big" plays as a three-year starter. From Los Angeles.
to have a word with that scout. I bet that scout looked mostly at the stats to come to the best player conclusion. Pretty hard to rack up stats when your being double and triple teamed almost every play if your Martin. Martin was clearly the best player on defense though.
Anyways congrats to Jonas. He showed flashes of pretty high potential, hopefully better defensive coaching in the NFL can make him a more consistent player.
What if he would have run well? Really happy for hijm since he had to go through a bunch of crap while here and it ended up paying off. I think his best asset will be his ability to drop into coverage as well as his pursuit. Get him the right coaching and the right guys around him and he should do well. San Diego is a good place for him.
Now I dont have to hate the friggin Chargers as much. Great spot for Jonas, I wish him the best and hopes he proves the nay sayers wrong.
Awesome. Congrats Jonas! When do you guys think Schilling will get drafted?

This is awesome. I am going to have to finally go to a Chargers game now.
Greetings from Bolivia.
"It's special how the real true people hang together. And if you don't support the program you're not a true Michigan guy. It's that simple." - Gary Moeller
Amazed he's a second round choice. I would have bet good money he would go in the late rounds, with a chance of not getting drafted at all, considering his less-than-stellar combine results. I've always been a Chargers fan, and this will be even more reason to root for them.
And in other news Greg Jones just got drafted....in the 6th round.

Congrats Jonas... He worked his ass off this year and deserves this draft selection.

Awesome for Mouton! He must have really impressed the SD staff. I hope he has a great pro career. Frankly shocked he went so early though. Same with Ponder.
