Conflicting emotions about Wisc

Submitted by MinorRage on
For some inexplicable reason, I keep getting more and more optimistic about tomorrow's game. With every prediction that I read predicting a loss or a blowout I somehow feel that this game could really surprise a lot of people. I wasn't very confident about IL because it still had a lot of the key players from last year. Nothing more than blatant biasness....but I really feel our guys can win this one. I don't see the quit that I saw last year towards the end of the season. I think these young men are going to come out, force WI out of their gameplan, and will shock the B10. We've lost enough games that we shouldn't have, it's time we win one that we shouldn't. Anybody else have similar thoughts?

Football is a strange game at times, and anything is possible. One thing I've noticed that seems mysterious by its absence in recent games are BIG plays. We just don't seem to be able to force a really big play at a critical juncture that ends up being a game-changer. Who knows? Maybe Saturday will be BIG play Saturday for BIG Blue!

Is this a M site or wisconsin site? This last week its been hard to tell with all the love for wis. They are Wisconsin.Big,fat, slow Wisconsin. If they stop killing themselves with missed assignments they should be fine. How does wis. handle our offense? Minor always tears them up(feed him).Denard seeing there defense shouldn't be much different than him seeing Western's.Maybe a little vincent smith.I have no doubt we can score 40, and i think(hopefully) our defense will be better this week by not playing a spread offense(or an offense with speed, except for RB Ball).

as I absolutely loathe the Badgers. But I just don't think they are that good - they looked awful against OSU, shooting themseleves in the foot again and again with errors. They have beaten the meh likes of IU, Minnie, NIU and Fresno by a combined winning margin of 17 points. The have only played two above average teams and those were both convincing losses. I'm not buying the Purdue win either - the Boilers laid down, that was not the same team I saw against OSU and Michigan. This is your typical Badgers team, losing to the big boys and feasting on weak competition. This team does not scare me at all, granted Michigan is nothing great either, but hey we got a good shot.

that is inexplicable. Still, that's what we're down to, the inexplicable; if anyone has the vial of Galadriel, now would be a good time to hold it up high in the air. I have about as much hope as this math student has of getting at least one point on this question, http://www.funnyjunk.com/funny_pictures/12774/Find+X/ I'm not going to give credence to my hopes with statements like 'the strength of our defense is run stopping' or 'one of these games the light is going to go on in Tate's head and this could be the one', I'm going to watch, pour my soul into our Wolverines one more time, fight the inner battle of cheering and hoping and getting excited and getting down...you guys know. It's all been said, they know what to do, the coaches know what to do, will it happen? Go Blue.

The strength of our defense hopefully will be the vanilla of Wisconsin's offense. There is not much to lose at this point. We may get to see some actual stunting and effective run blitzing this game. We may actually go back to the play calling from the first few weeks where 3/4 of the passes were with Forcier moving by design. Its obvious as of late our line is largely incapable of making a pocket.

34-24 Michigan... we score on our first 3 possessions 21-7 at that point and we dont turn the ball over. 2 long sustained drives to open the second half and standing tall, Wisconsin starts passing and our DBs pull of some TOs and the game is sealed. Zoltan is pacing the sidelines seeing the awards slip through his fingers as he is getting little field time. Go Blue

I've found it interesting how the team has matched up with other teams this year ie: Iowa vs PSU vs UM. Iowa manhandles PSU who in turn does the same to us, we come close to beating Iowa. Ill. gets pounded until they play us. I don't know what to think. I do think there's a sense of urgency if they want to get to a bowl. I liked how we aired it out a little more last week. I think that needs to happen early tomorrow. I'll take a chance, always optomistic, UM 31 Wisc 28.

If any team is slow enough for our safeties to cover the field it should be Wisconsin. I also think Ezeh should be moved to the line so he is forced to engage at the LOC for once. (Kidding...a little)

and losing to Illinois & then Purdue does this to you because I have the same feeling as you bro. I just hope if that feelings wrong and if we lose tomorrow it doesn't do just the opposite for OSU week. I need as much positivity as possible before I make that trip to Ann Arbor on the 21st or it could get ugly for some of these OSU fans. Last time I was around them in person was 2006 in Cuntlumbus & they treated me like shit. Now 2 more losses later and well, you get the picture. Phuck, i'm all worked up now!

Unlike the pros where players on losing teams mail it in (cough, Peppers, cough), college kids, especially at programs like Michigan, will go out and give their all every time. Sometimes that all wins, sometimes it doesn't. But you can't accuse this team of not trying. They fight to the end of every game no matter what the score. We can win tomorrow. We seem to have Wussconsin's number. I'll be in front of the TV to cheer them on as always.

I don't know if that means a win...I'm not feeling that so much. This Denard/Forcier thing. The change up in the secondary. The promise by Martin/RVB (this was post the Iowa game?) to not let BG down. Minor's legacy (and NFL prospects) on the line. This losing streak is adversity galore (that can spunk a team in a positive way.) The position coach speculation. Not to mention the bowl game situation and RR's desire/need to win. There are intangibles here that point to a different team and approach. In light of recent games, different is good. I think this team will play well. Playing well is as good a bar for this team as I can set. A win would be a call for celebration (can I get a witness!) My beer has been bought. Bring it on Badgers! No fumbles!

I also feel better about Wisconsin than I did about Illinois, I guess from a match up standpoint. Illinois was an athletic team that was underachieving. We might be able to out-quick Wisconsin. Hoping and dreaming anyway

But lately it's been replaced by a dong punch Saturday afternoon. It's the optimism that keeps all of us loving this team, warts and all. I'm still hopeful for the bowl game, but my wife is spending our bowl game money on new bedroom furniture tomorrow.
