[Confirmed:] Henry Poggi an official visitor to Bama this weekend

Submitted by bassmaster on

According to 247 & Rivals (paywalled). Of course, the story for the last few weeks has been Poggi visiting Bama - but only to see his friend in Tuscaloosa. Now it appears this will be an official visit and Nick Saban is expecting him. Not good, IMO.

My personal opinion, Poggi and his dad were using the "visiting a friend" angle to run interference with the actual visit. If he was really visiting his friend, why couldn't it just wait until afer NSD?

...commence panic.

Mod edit: Changed title since it seems this doesn't come from Poggi or anyone who can speak for him. JGB.

Edit two: Changed the title again since it sounds like the visit was confirmed.

Maybe it's because it's Friday...or because I just got off a two-hour business call...or because Mrs. 1989 UM GRAD has been away on business most of the week...but the idea of a backfield including Shavodrick Beaver, Mike Cox and Jake Butt just gave me a little chuckle. (yes I know Jake Butt hasn't arrived on campus yet, but please don't let facts get in the way of my moment)

Sorry for the old guy having a Beavis and Butthead moment...

I mean obviously I'd feel better if he didn't go, but I wouldnt panic. He isnt waiting until after NSD because his Airfare + Lodging are comped by Alabama. He gets to visit his friend, and he has to do a 2 hour meet + greet or whatever with Nick Saban to get all that stuff paid for.

Think of Nick Saban as that guy trying to sell you a timeshare in Aspen, and you get the free weekend is Aspen if you sit down with him for 2 hours. Granted, some people do end up getting suckered into Timeshares so that is the only reason I'm a little nervous, but I think its definitely plausible that Poggi is just trying to get a free trip out of Saban. Let's just hope Saban isn't like that guy on South Park in the Timeshare episode who never lets them return until buying their timeshare (or commitment to Alabama)

Never buy a timeshare from the developer, at a place you don't want to go at least once a year.  And even then, enjoy your ever-rising annual fee.

If you goto tug2.net, you can get timeshares for free (minus transfer fees) from folks who are sick of paying the annual fee.

My poor in-laws bought a place in Vegas, over Thanksgiving they asked me to see how much they were going for in the secondary market.  They were available for $0.01.

I looked into buying a timeshare at the Westin St. John (we fell in love with the island).  The annual fees have doubled over the last 4  years.
