So, uh, Michigan sent out their Penn State game notes and Derrick Green is NOT on the depth chart. pic.twitter.com/JAt7IjP3jy

UPDATE: Hoke actually broke the golden rule of his life of not talking about injuries and announces that Derrick Green broke his collarbone on Saturday.

UM is fucking 2-4.  Didn't that thing you called "Panic" happen weeks ago after a 0-31 drubbing to Notre Dame.  Yeah, that's what I thought.

All this means is Justice Hayes and DeVeon Smith and D. Gardner will get more carries. Not a big deal.

In fact, I don't know what consitutes the proper use of "panic" anymore on mgoblog.  Does anyone else know?

I don't think even that creates panic in the community anymore, because by now we understand how that would be a thoroughly appropriate and probable outcome for Michigan football.

You see, we were made to suffer. It's our lot in life.

As I recall, a running back was being helped off the field whilst Hoke was standing and laughing with a ref. I was too taken aback at Hoke's cavalier demeanor as one of his 'sons' was clearly hurt to actually wonder what was wrong with the player (or even which player it was).

I agree. Kalis should stay in the game. During the 4Q of that game Michigan had the first coherent offense I've seen yet this year. They ran the ball with the threat of the QB out of the shotgun, threw the ball to Hill, (who should always play over Williams), but I thought the line also played as well as it has. Two of the sacks were on Devin and the pocket was fine this game. It seems a shame to switch guys out again. For the record, I thought Devin played well. He still just occasionally puts his eyes down on the rush, but the ran the ball very well.

DOES IT REALLY MATTER AT THIS POINT.

Sorry to hear it and hope he recovers quickly.  Panic would be warranted if we were 6-0, but the season is over and we have other running backs to fill the spot.

Get better soon, Derrick.

Hopefully, it's a speedy recovery for Green, although I think clavicle fractures can take months depending on the severity, but I could be wrong. It's nice to see us get some rushing going despite the 2-4 start, and Green really does look good being at the forefront of that attack. Green played hard on Saturday and did well pushing tacklers and driving gaps on his way to yards, so this loss will sting definitely.

Also, as he just said three times in the presser, apparently he only discloses injuries if they are of a season ending variety. His answer to questions regarding DeVeon and JP.

What's there to panic about? Didn't matter who was our RB. They always run into a brick wall of defenders the minute Gardner hands them the ball.

Hope Green is alright but whether he, Smith, Hayes or whoever plays makes little difference.

Smith is a good back too..Hits the hole better.  Maybe they won't be so bullheaded now and actually play Drake Johnson.  Probably the best back they have

I'm eager to see Drake Johnson as well.  I don't know if he's the best of the backs they have, but he might just be a better fit for this scheme and O-line right now.  Would love to see him get a legit chance in a game to find out.  Normally, I would defer to the coaches who have seen him in practice everyday, but . . . pass the beer nuts.

Healing time varies based on age, health, complexity and location of the break as well as the bone displacement. For adults, a minimum of 2–6 weeks of sling immobilization is normally employed to allow initial bone and soft tissue healing.

During this period, patients may remove the sling to practice passive pendulum Range of Motion (ROM) exercises to reduce atrophy in the elbow and shoulder, but they are minimized to 15-20 degrees off vertical. Depending on the severity of fracture, a person can begin to use the arm if comfortable with movement and no pain results. The final goal is to be able to have full range of motion with no pain; therefore, if any pain exists, it is best to allow for more recovery time.

Depending on severity of the fracture, athletes involved in contact sports may need a longer period of rest to heal to avoid re-fracturing bone. A person should be able to return unrestricted to any sports or work by 3 months after the injury.

The silver lining, for me at least, is that I think Smith is the better of the two backs (I know I'm not a coach so what do I know, I can confidently say at this point that YES I CAN IDENTIFY TALENT BETTER THAN OUR COACHES (Taco and Wormley to start!)), anywho, Smith has better vision, cutting ability, and agility. I look forward to him getting 15-25 carries a game because I think he gets stronger as the game goes on. Bad news for Green, good news for Smith, it won't really matter because Ty will be the man next year and this year is a wash...the cold hard truth...

all 3 RB's ran very hard on Saturday.  Was a bright spot on the offensive side of the ball.  Feel bad for Green.  I hope his recovery goes fast and smooth.  I really liked the way he was playing.

Whether you like or dislike Green this might just be a time to wish him a healthy and speddy recovery.  My kids and I met Green and his family after a game last year and they all seemed like good people.  Whether he should be our first or second back isn't relevant. What is at this juncture is that he got hurt busting his ass, trying to win.

I don't get the panic here, I personally see Smith as the better RB with an attitude that can help the team.

That's too bad. Green had some good runs for us and IMO is the more explosive back. We have a good backup at least, as long as he is healthy. I just worry deveon is not going to be explosive enough.

I'm feeling like Eeyore - nothing good can happen; just accept it:

"Eeyore," said Owl, "Christopher Robin is giving a party."

"Very interesting," said Eeyore. "I suppose they will be sending me down the odd bits which got trodden on. Kind and Thoughtful. Not at all, don't mention it."
