Jones has left prep school, according to this article:
Conelius Jones Update
And see ya later. That is too bad.
that isn't necessarily it for him... his GPA was fine (3.5 or something) his SAT score was too low, all he has to do is retake the test
Slight correction... his overall GPA was fine, but his core GPA wasn't. Qualification is based on test scores and core GPA, which means, in this case, he needs a much higher test score than a 3.5 GPA would normally require. This is one of those odd situations where a 3.5 GPA doesn't correlate with the core GPA.
What you're saying is the >3.5 gpa included elective type corses that don't matter when qualifying. However, his GPA of courses like math, science, english, etc. was lower than 3.5. Is that true? If not, can you elaborate on what you mean by "core GPA?"?
If that is the case, does going toa prep school or junior college allow him to raise this GPA and qualify?
In very basic terms, the difference is that the overall GPA includes everything, whereas the "core GPA" consists of a more limited subset of courses (I can't remember the exact list off of the top of my head, but basically math, science, english, etc.) that is used in evaluating qualification. Then there is a sliding scale between core GPA and test score that is used for qualification (i.e. the higher the core GPA, the lower the test score you need to qualify).
The question of whether going to a prep school or JC to raise his GPA is a good one and my suspicion is that the answer is no because of the nature of the courses (i.e. early high school courses aren't likely to be offered at either school), which is why he left. This is just an educated guess, but my suspicion is that he realized that prep school wasn't going to help and that the only route to qualification is to work on raising his test scores. This makes sense considering his H.S. coach's comments about how little he missed the SAT score by.
SURPRISE! He's in Ann Arbor - starting on Saturday. Seriously though, I hope he gets this figured out. He has some big upside.
RichRod probably ran him out of there too.
Fork Union Military Academy...
Some people feed on the discipline and thrive, others find it oppressive. Hopefully he'll enroll in some SAT prep classes and retake the test ASAP.
I was prepared for this to read that he is destroying everyone and will start for the Ohio State Buckeyes this season.
One word: Sousa.
And we all move on.
we were going to go for one QB in this class regardless
I'm pretty sure he also wasn't going to play QB at Michigan, so Sousa really has no bearing on this. At all.
I mean, I like marching bands at all, but I don't know what they have to do with quarterbacks and prep schools.
I wondered what happened to him when Rivals had a article about the prep schools and they were talking about which players were impressing and their was no mention of him. Hopefully he can just re-take his SAT and get in for next year.
I guess we will just have to wait and see how this plays out. Tons of upside for this kid. I hope it all works out for him.
If the youg man is having trouble at the high school level, what do you think will happen at Michigan. If he struggles at MI and leaves, this board will trash RR. This is a case were Jones should enroll at a school that he will be able to survive at academically.
A word of advice: if you have no idea what you are talking about it is best to keep your mouth shut. It is obvious that you have literally no idea about the actual facts surrounding this situation and why he didn't qualify. If you did you would know just how ignorant what you've said is. But yeah... go ahead and make blanket generalizations and make yourself look stupid...
There are things that I know that you could never come to understand. You are so tough standing behind your hidden identity. Grow up yourself and try to respond in a intellegent matter, wait you can't. You never quaified yourself. I'm sorry for you
You never quaified yourself.
On this topic, actually, I have. Several times. That's how I can say, with absolute certainty, and others here will believe me when I say, that you are speaking out of total and complete ignorance on this topic.
You are so tough standing behind your hidden identity
So your parents actually named you a2blue?
Thanks for reminding me why MLive is such a cesspool.
is that you?
He isn't necessarily parting ways with UM, he can still be eligible If retakes the SAT
